Hard to believe the Nationals road record stood at 32-20 when they arrived in Atlanta to begin a series on July 30th. Since then they have played 22 road games and won......two of them.
Last night the Padres offense was dormant vs. a crew of Nats relievers until 34-year old rookie manager Blake Butera made the mistake of summoning a fella named Jared Simpson to handle the bottom of the 8th. Simpson was called up a week ago and was making his third major league appearance. This one did not go well. He totally choked, walking all three batters he faced before Butera had to go get him. Simpson trudged off the field with his head hung low, and minutes later all those baserunners scored to tie the game. In the process the Nationals set a dubious major league record with their 38th blown save of the season, and this was one of the worst. The Pads' limp bats weren't doing anything and the Nats seemingly had them beat. I actually felt bad for them.....and I was on the Padres -175!

Los Rockies tienen un récord de 8-0 en los últimos 8 partidos en los que Sugano ha sido titular durante el segundo juego de una serie.
The Rockies are 7-1 this season in this situation. They lost on April 10th in San Diego when Sugano started the second game of the series but have since gone 7-0 behind him when he starts the second game of a series. The most recent occurrence was on August 11th when the Rockies upset the D-Backs in Phoenix, 3-2. I had massive in-game action that night on the Rockies at +250 after the D-Backs hit a solo shot in the bottom of the 1st and then I hammered +375 following a second solo shot in that inning. But the D-Backs never scored again. I appreciate Sugano lasting 6 innings that night and keeping his team in it.

While losing every day on this road trip, the Nationals were competitive.....until today. They briefly had the upper hand in the top of the 3rd when they scored 2 runs and still had the bases loaded with nobody out. But they squandered their chance to bust it open and the Padres immediately got fired up and spent the next three innings punishing them for that.
Since Dylan Crews singled in a run to make it 2-0, the Nationals are 0-15. That is called quitting.
Nice easy one today, 007CRUSHER. I wondered if the crushing defeat last night would leave the Nationals without the will to compete today, but that wasn't the case UNTIL the top of the 3rd inning concluded.

@MrBator
You playing the Rockies sir?
Judge back may be an additional distraction?
No. Last night I tried a parlay on the Yankees -300 and over 4 -120 in the 1st 5 innings. I did this because I knew that in Gabriel Hughes' first 5 road starts, his ERA in the 1st 5 innings of those games was 9.39!!
So what did I get? A 2-1 Yankees lead at the end of 5 innings. And Aaron Judge went 0-2, and the great Ben Rice struck out to end the 5th with a RISP.
