I said yesterday that the Angels have no lineup, and oh man, that proved correct again last night. As a team they batted .133 (4-30) and drew only two walks. They struck out twelve times. All of their hits were singles, and after Wade Meckler singled to begin the 4th inning, the Angels went 1-18 the rest of the night.
And it gets no easier tonight when they'll face face Braxton Ashkraft. Ashkraft got hit hard in the month of July, but his August was superlative. In 38 innings pitched he posted a 2.13 ERA. He walked only 5 batters throughout the month and struck out 29. He even threw a complete game in Miami.
The Angels will counter with Yusei Kikuchi. Kikuchi will be making his third start since missing three and a half months with shoulder probelms. This will be his 7th road start, and his ERA on the road this season is a swollen 7.56.
