The Red Sox offense is producing 6.9 earned runs per 9 their last 15
versus righty with 10 of 15 quality performances, and Jimenez is one of the
weakest righties in the majors today. Neither starter looks good on a “last 3”
basis, but Porcello’s strength of schedule is far higher and he has scored an
average of 63.6 points, about average, his last 3, while Jimenez has scored
much worse at 47.7 versus weaker opposition. What you may not know is that the
Orioles offense is actually weaker than the A.L. average, 34.4/36.5, due to an overload
of home games in their band box ball park and a relatively weak strength of
schedule so far. They are due for a serious fall when their road schedule and
better pitching catch up with them.
