First Five Inning Play
An interesting matchup on the mound tonight at PETCO Park. Two pitchers with very similar dilemmas over the past 3 starts. Over this span, we have seen both Trevor Cahill and Eric Stults face off unimpressively to the eye against some of the leagues higher contact rated teams but there is a catch. While Cahill has minimized the amount of contact by batters during that time, balls in play have been hit extremely hard. Meanwhile, although Stults has surrendered a much greater amount of contact, he has limited damage as balls have not been hammered as much on his pitches of late. Arizona catches a mediocre offense in San Diego, but it will be Stults who has limited hard contact and base runners against more formidable offenses as of late who will best prosper in facing a more down to earth offensive attack over the past two weeks.
