weeble5672, not surprisingly, got the drift. There is no value in playing the Cubs for 63 cents on the dollar when their opponent is paying 2.38 times that for the same risk. If you think the Cubs are 2.38 times more likely to win than the Astros you shouldn't be betting baseball in the first place. You need a better than 61.5% chance of winning to win a profit that is 63% of your risk, and you need it with a loser. Far better teams lose even with that kind of edge, the Cubs are suddenly masters of the game?

Last time I checked, the Astros are ultimate losers. They do have the WORST record in the majors. They should be demoted with all the minor leaguers they have called up to start.

I understand your play the value here, but dude you're going on a + on the worst team in MLB last time I checked vs. a very good Matt Garza at home (2.34 ERA at home).

    You're a douche

He's not saying the Astros are a good team, however they are playing .500 ball over the last 30 games, he's saying that you shouldn't be laying that much juice on another bad team...

Some people just don't get it.

Some people just don't get it.

Really?? Call a guy a douche because he bet the Cubs?

Bottom line is this. The people that bet the Astros will lose their money and the Cub backers will now be happy and have more money. I personally felt comfortable enough with this game that thought it was worth the shot even with the odds how they were. If you look closely there were a lot of things going in the Cubs favor on this one.

Yes...the douche call was unnecessary. I'll give you that.

However, the bottom line of this thread isn't what you just stated. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Key created his thread to show the value of betting the Astros and the LACK of value of betting the Cubs. He didn't go off all cocky, like most, and insist that you're an idiot if you bet the Cubs.

Unfortunately, for Key, people can't handle when someone disagrees with them and they only hear/read what they want to hear/read. Thus, "The Cubs don't justify this line" becomes "You're a stupid twat if you bet the Cubs".

Well, that certainly provided some entertainment for this afternoon. Game results show just how tight these things are and the importance of playing value lines. That was the point in the first place (thanx weeble). If the Cubs manage a one run win in twelve innings, do you honestly think they win this exact matchup 616 times out of 1,000? Remember, if they only win 615 you only break even.
