Yeah but that also shows how fluky a bad era can be. If that did happen and he magically had a 5.5 era after 1 pitch i would still know how good he looked besides 1 mistake

The better questions is "Will Strasburg BECOME the best pitcher of our generation"?  It's certainly possible.  Time will tell.  You can't say anything at this point other than he has that potential.

Kenshin Kawakami for the Braves is 0-8 and he pitched about the same quality of game against the Pirates as Strasburg (4 hits, 2 runs over 7 innings vs 4 hits, 2 runs over 6 2/3 innings).

Strasburg has the best pure stuff of any pitcher/prospect ever. There really is no questioning that.

He is not the best pitcher of our generation, yet. Pitchers can break down and have their career end on any pitch, all it takes is one pitch to for a pitcher to have a career ending injury or an injury that will effect their stuff/pitching.

    Prior and Wood

If Strasburg can stay healthy then it is very possible he can become the greatest pitcher of our generation and the history of baseball. He has the potential to accomplish all that however he still needs to learn the nuances of pitching and continue to want to become better rather than becoming complacent and comfortable with his current arsenal.

His stuff will only carry him so far. It is up to him to learn how to pitch at the ML level. If he wants to become the best pitcher and puts in the work then the sky is hte limit because no other pitcher has the stuff he has.

I don't care of Strasburg is -500 in his next start against the White Sox, the odds should be AT LEAST -800.
