If it wasn't for HRs.....
What happened in 2015-2016 is only a 14-percentish increase. Not anything significant from what occurred earlier.
If I were too investigate MLB for something fishy going on, look at what happened in 1918-1919 where there was a ___74%___ increase in HR/game.
The years 1918-1919 is what I would focus on because the normal ups and downs percentage-wise wouldnt draw too much attention to someone looking at the data.
We still have a 100+ year trend in place and this clearly isnt entirely due to juiced balls.
The factors of why the trend is increasing have been mentioned already. But....I suspect just due to the fact that humans have a performance maximum, the peak(number of HRs/game) isnt that far away.
If we do reach new peaks there will be a new controversy following it I'm sure. Maybe it will be CO2 levels, temp levels, number of seagulls that year, whatever....

You are blaming the weather for a 723 HR increase from one year to the next...

Forget it, Sac. They just don't get it....Even the players are complaining about it, but these kids in here know more than the players.

Wow...juiced balls even in Nolan Ryan's day...
As with just about everything else in baseball, there are different schools of thought about the prevention and treatment of blisters. Some of these schools are rooted in science, and others in something more accurately described as folklore. One of the sport's most terrifying blister prevention routines belonged to Hall of Famer pitcher Nolan Ryan, who suffered from blisters when he was breaking in with the Mets.
Mike Marshall, the Cy Young-winning relief pitcher turned kinesiologist, told VICE Sports that ideally, a pitcher should have soft and supple fingertips. He also can't believe that major league pitchers still struggle with blisters, because there's a simple solution.
"Getting blisters is a matter of whether or not they have their fingernails the right length," he said. "It's as simple as that. If the baseball comes off of a fingernail, it creates heat, and that's how you get a blister. You'd think they'd know how to do that by now."

On MLB radio they were saying that because of the defensive shifts that the players are trying to hit it in the air now until they get 2 strikes. Justin Turner of the Dodgers said he definitely tries for Home Runs or Doubles because of the shifts. Could be a partial reason. Another is the ball is at the max as far as specs. Garciappara (spelled wrong I'm sure) said that he picked one up and it felt like a rock and the seams seemed flatter.

You are either: A) Incredibly naive
B) An employee of MLB
C) Both A and B

Which is the exact reason strikeouts rates have increased at a greater rate than homeruns the last 4 years. A few years ago, only a handful of players would strikeout 200+ a year. Now, multiple players on every team strikeout 200 times, heck 250+ a year. It doesnt matter if its 3-1 or 0-2, players swing out of their shoes every pitch. If you watch games now, hitters are missing the ball by a foot or more. A few years ago, you wouldnt see the lineup if you struck out 200 times....now it doesnt matter because those same players also hit 30+ homeruns. The 'juiced' ball theory causing an increase in homeruns is an absolute joke. You have to look at the entire game....yes homeruns are up, but strikeouts are up more, batting averages way down, doubles are down, sacrifices are down....Games 10, heck even 5 years ago, when a player would get a leadoff double, 90% of the time there would be a sac bunt, or the players would atleast hit in on the ground to the right side....you rarely if ever see that anymore...

58 home runs were hit on Friday, the most in MLB history on a day with no more than 15 games.

The longest game times of this series were far and away some of the best games in this series and that I have witnessed.
If you get 28 hits between two teams you should just expect the game time to be high.
A very fast game means a pitcher's duel which I like occasionally but post-game comments about it being a "great" game are few.
Very few what-ifs to talk about post-game in a 1-0 pitcher's duel.
