Game 5 winner take all and both teams are pitching a bullpen game. I am sorry but all of the teams I have watched in my lifetime would never do this. Do these teams not have a starter left do to every child gets a trophy?
Really they may not have there ace available so the bullpen. This game will turn into who will be the moose. Or as you younger people say who will be the gas can. Baseball has changed so much because it is geared to bet on every at bat, pitch etc. The younger generation wants instant gratification. My generation just wants to see a starting pitching lineup that can have at least 3 starters win 14 or more games. Giving out Cy Young awards to pitchers the have won 10-13 games? Steve Carlton is just laughing at all this nonsense.
Good luck to anyone who bets this clown show tonight.

It is what it is. I'm 71 so a lot of my early years were watching the winners of each league go at it for the WS. Now there's so many series that no longer is it the norm of when I was growing up. Best pitcher would pitch games 1, 4, and 7 if needed.

Both teams run the roster on pitchers tonight- like Det/Sea last night. This game won't go 15 innings, though. Winner has to play again Monday. How many bullpen games on the NLCS/ ALCS? Game has definitely become wayyyyy different!

Yea keep him in there till he messes up. Although Scubal had thrown a lot of pitches I'll bet AJ wishes he would have kept him in there at least to the first 2 batters.

Injuries to their true starters and aces pitch 6 innings maybe 7 max maybe to help prevent injuries like with Ohtani. Not ideal to go over 100 pitches unless that pitcher is really shutting it down

Let me take you back to July 5 1963 SF vs Milwaukee Juan Marichal vs Warren Spahn. They didn't have splitters sliders or a thousand other pitches. Bother pitchers threw 16 shut out innings and it all ended with a Willie Mays walk off home run in the bottom of the 16th a 1-0 game. Marichal threw 227 pitches and Spahn a mere 200 pitches. Now lets got to the 1968 World Series Cards vs Tigers both Bob Gibson and Mickey Lolich threw 3 cpt games in 9 days. These pitchers threw nothing but fast balls curve balls and some had a knuckle ball. Fast forward to October 10 2025 the supposedly untouchable Tarik Skubal goes 6 innings his last pitch in the 6th inning was a 101 fastball that had so much junk on it all the big dumper could do is wave at it. Then he is a no show in the 7th inning what were they doing saving him for a March 5th 2026 spring training game. If he pitches 7th and 8th Vest closes it out in the 9th and Tigers move on. Basically a joke. Oh yeah Skubal didn't throw 227 pitches he threw 99.

I'm sure if Skubal had the velocity of those mentioned, he could've gone a couple more innings.
