There are 11 guys on the team hitting above .290

    Lawrie: OPS 1.090
    Cooper: OPS 1.040
    Thames 1.019
    very comparable

No im not placing a wager with some random guy on the internet over something as random as this. Half the ppl on here wouldnt ever pay up anyways. but its very unlikely hes called up

Go look at his #'s away from cashman field. There isnt really a big dropoff whatsoever. He is leading the entire league in hits, total bases and runs. He is leading ALL of professional baseball, including the majors in extra base hits and total base's. Let that sink in for a second. Sure the PCL helps offensive numbers but I dont care what league you play in , the fact is he's utterly dominating the second best league. Other top prospects like Ackley or Moustakas arent ripping up the PCL.

Sure Cooper and Thames struggled when called up but they are nowhere close to the prospect Lawrie is. Ill be sure to bump this thread in a week or so when they call him up. Only reason he hasnt already been called up is because of the super 2. His defence has been more then capable the past few weeks and most of his troubles came right at the start of the season.

Also if youre calling Lawrie up, who gets sent down? with Lind coming back this weekend Thames will be going down likely, and I dont see them sending e5 down

    Thames, EE, Nix.

    These guys are spare parts.

Not trying to be a jerk, but Lawrie is being called up after the super 2.

His plate discipline hasnt gotten that much better. 18 walks in 50 games. 18 walks compared to 40 strikeouts.

PS dont get me wrong I want to see Lawrie up here more than anyone and I hope youre right, Im just not sure if its as soon as everyone thinks

Could be they dont play in the same home park. 8 of the top 12 offensive clubs are from the Pacific North and South divisions. I haven't looked at the schedule but my instinct tells me that those divisions play more games against eachother than the American divisions play in those parks. That would lead to better offensive production from players on teams in the Pacific divisions.

Ackley and mike moustakas aren't struggling but they aren't posting 1.000 OPS either.

Lets put it this way the PCL league OPS is .800

Compare that to the International League where the league OPS is .729

his K/BB ratio has greatly improved in the last 15 games after Anthopolous told him to be more patient at the plate.

I just looked up his #'s on the road. He's actually been better on the road then then cashman field.

    On the road

    .375 batting average

    1.099 OPS

.436 OBP vs .392 at home

Straight up the kid is dominating the league

    .375 batting average

    1.099 OPS

.436 OBP vs .392 at home

Straight up the kid is dominating the league

    Great post.

Plate discipline is one of the most important things. In the minors you can get away with it but once you are in the majors pitchers will find your weakness and pick it apart. If you don't have plate discipline you have a good chance of struggling.

Have to cut down the on K's and try to walk more. It will only help when he does get called up.

That would lead to better offensive production from players on teams in the Pacific divisions.

Ackley and mike moustakas aren't struggling but they aren't posting 1.000 OPS either.

Lets put it this way the PCL league OPS is .800

Compare that to the International League where the league OPS is .729

    Ackley's OPS is .866 with a .292 batting avg

Moustakas OPS is .824 with a .278 batting avg

A ballpark can certainly help but it doesnt add 150+ points to your OPS. That is just crazy talk. Both of these guys are struggling in regards to the hype. Both are seen as top 15 prospects and Lawrie is absolutely schooling both of them while being 1-2 years younger.

    Moustakas is struggling.

A batting average under .280 with a OPS under .850

Thats gross from someone who is considered the best 3rd base prospect in the minors.

That was the second excuse AA used why he didn't call him up.  He said he wanted him to be more selective and taking more walks.  Since then that has improved too.  Here are his April and May BB/KK numbers:

    April: 4/23
    May: 14/17

Yep people that say his still striking out too much and not walking enough arent following him closely. AA said that at the start of the season Lawrie was trying to kill every ball and wasnt being patient. They ask him to become more selective and boom he all the sudden starts talking more walks and K'ing less.

Just saw Keith Law's top prospect list, has Lawrie rated #11.

Cant believe they still have Montero that high at #3.

So he's Bryce Harperesque you are saying huh? Maybe, but my 2b spot is filled with Chase Utley and Jamey Carroll. Not sure I'll take a chance at adding this guy to start over seasoned veterans but hope you're team does well with him called up

He's a 3rd baseman now so it won't take too long for him to gain that eligibility.

    Good

I'm tired of Nix and E5

although Nix is a good fielding 3rd basemen

Brett Lawrie had to leave Tuesday's game for Triple-A Law Vegas in the first inning after being hit on the hand by a pitch.

We don't know any more details at the moment, but it could be incredibly bad timing, as he was poised for a call-up on Friday. He'll likely be sent for an X-ray before the Blue Jays decide what to do with him.

Blue Jays prospect infielder Brett Lawrie was diagnosed with a bruised left wrist.

Blue Jays fans and fantasy owners can let out a huge sigh of relief. Lawrie tweeted the information himself while the news was confirmed by Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos via Buster Olney of ESPN.com. He'll likely need to miss a couple days, but he's still on the fast track to the big leagues.
