I understand for the well being of the horse but who exactly makes this decision?
The owner or the trainer or both? and what exactly leads/factors to this decision?
Just wondering because when history presents itself for a triple crown winner potential you better be certain that pulling your horse from this potential milestone that you are 100% sure that your making the right decision I would think
Now it's back to horse capping and I'm bummed because Golden Tempo from last to first appeared to have triple crown potential.

Could be either the owner or the trainer, a unique partnership with no two arrangements the same.
As for "Tempo" he was NEVER going to Baltimore. Curlin colt has bad wheels, as does Renegade and a half dozen others who ran in the derby. Oft times, here obviously they're manageable.
This 3yo crop is well below par, Baffert's freak wins for fun IF he runs.

Just seen an interview with Cherie DeVaux and she was questioned on the reasoning for her not entering her horse in the Preakness and she replied that the bounce back after a horses wins the derby does indeed take a toll on a horse after you demand the same on a following race within weeks and she is looking for longevity on her young horse and yes I have to say that I respect her decision as well as others in the past as you have mentioned midnight1 and I will be looking forward to Golden tempo to be running possibly and most likely at the belmont stakes and it's outstanding long and intimidating stretch.
