gambling. so much wasted time, money, relationships, etc. even when you're having a great season it doesn't make up for the bad ones and moments you've blown

Student loans to gamble, travel, and live above my normal means. 50k, didn't even need the $.

I'm very much of the "who cares you only live once" mindset.

Shake it off Search and shake it off, off & off.

I thought hard about buying Apple stock in 1996 when it was on the brink of bankruptcy ($2 a share or something close to that). I've worked on Macs (printing industry) since 1991. If I'd bought that stock I coulda stopped Itunes, the Ipod, the Iphone, the Ipad and every other I-fkn thing that's going to come out in the next 50 years. Could you imaging what $2K woulda turned into?

Certainly Mess, I would've dumped it somewhere along the line. That's what normal people do. Rich people would buy $5K of it and cash it out when it was $700 a share...

Myself? I got content with where I was and never studied/learned more.

You should always try to improve at what you do. Especially for your earning wage.................

Not cashing out when I was up $65K in baseball a few years back... I started with $150 in my account and went on a huge run.  I figured I had cracked the code so keep rolling.  Lost if all of course.  I really could have used the money for responsible things at that time, like buy a house and my kids, etc.

I bought a house last year and me and boys are doing great.

Damn guys, that suicide stuff freaks me out.  I agree you cannot help those that don't want help, but that is sound reason.  I would be devastated in a real way if somebody close to me did that.

I wasted about a year and a half of my life at about the second job i got out of college.  Was working a not high paying job that had illegal things going on.  Instead of telling anyone i just started drinking a lot and smoking a lot.  I went from beer to whiskey and harder alcohol drinking it out of the bottle.  Ended up putting my car in the ditch twice and walking a couple of miles home so i didn't get in trouble.  Ended up showing up to work late so on.  Made a lot of bad decisions.  Anyway my family got worried and stepped in and helped me out.  Pretty much quit it now.  Drink sometimes when i go to the races in the summer at the local track on saturdays otherwise i gave it up.  I realized i was headed down a bad path.  There was a couple times I laid down and everything was spinning and i just saw black and i knew i was going to die pretty soon if something didn't change.

I bought a "Throw Mama From The Train" VHS tape at Walgreens for $.50 about 15 years ago.  Never watched it.  Still regret that purchase.

    Good posts.

As we grow older, make a point of correcting the most important decisions of all. Those include the relationship you have with human beings.

By far the most important determining factor in our lives.. Past, current and future. Choose them very wisely.

I thought about putting this as one of mine.  Mine was about a year ago, I now consider it a blessing in disguise as I have turned it into a positive.  Haven't had a drink or smoke in almost 10 months, and even though it cost me about 5K I've probably saved more than that by quitting both and not going out.

If you can do something good with somebody you love...

Do it NOW.  Do not wait.  Go for it.

    1.  Started betting on the horses when I was 17 years old.  Now, I am 35, and have been going to the track once a week for the past 18 years.  I'd say that I lose money at the track about 90% of the time.  If you go to bet on the horses, go there to have a good time, and not to make money.

    2.  Became a St. Louis Blues fan when I was in high school.  Many years of heartache and disappointment.  I love that team to pieces but have so many bad memories of playoff failures.  Either way....Go Blues!

When my Dad was still alive, but in very bad health at the age of 85, I asked him what his biggest regret in life was. Without hesitation he said not spending enough time with his kids. That right there was the best lesson he ever taught me
