I understand what you're saying shooter and the options. But we are from two different worlds clearly. people don't run around scared with a fear of protecting their families. We can hold guns in our homes are protect our families from intruders. Our gun control works. Clearly not perfect but we don't have lots of random shootings unless someone was tied to the killer or gun toter. I still would pick no one carrying them in streets only homes. Sry if people get hurt but it prevents a lot more ridiculous gun crimes. We are strict enough to prevent anyone from carrying around a gun to police themselves and take lives at will. I know you wouldn't but many are capable!
And how do you propose that is implemented? Seriously, I would love to hear how you propose the US makes it so no one carries a gun in public. Since in Canada you “are strict enough to prevent ANYONE from carrying around a gun” let’s hear how you do it.
Once again, when it’s all said and done there are two realistic options:
1). Only criminals (and LE) are allowed to carry guns while law-abiding citizens are defenseless against them.
2). Criminals carry guns and law-abiding citizens are allowed the option of carrying to protect themselves and their families.
Pick one. 
Personally I am in favor of men being able to protect their families from criminals and women being given every opportunity to defend themselves from rapists. But hey, that’s just me.
Oh and feel free to find a few stories where a person that was legally carrying a gun went on a shooting rampage and started taking innocent lives at will. I would be interested in seeing them.
