Please explain yourself on this comment. Med Marijuana is a wonderful thing to those who seriously need it and it's not just for cancer patients. Sorry, but you sound very uneducated on the topic and are strictly voicing your opinion, not facts. I had L5/S1 spinal fusion back in November of 2006 due to a college soccer injury. When I first fractured my L5 I was in the hard plastic back brace (cause the back specialist felt it would heal without surgery) from my waist up to the chest. I had to wear this for about 4 months at 23 hours a day. I could only take it off to shower. I was on 2 oxys every 2 hours and hell I couldn't sleep a sound night without a shit load of pain. Marijuana was the only thing helping me sleep at night and getting me through the days. Now 3 years after surgery I feel better then what I did, but still have chronic pain, stiffness and numbness in my legs every day. And this is after eating very healthy, working out and doing all ab/core exercises my trainer instructs me to do. I dont wait to take pain meds anymore cause they have very addicting to me in the past. There are hundreds of thousands of people like me living everyday full of chronic pain and this is helping us live and survive. Tax the shit out of it and get this country out of debt.

colorado already has the idea by taxing it. needs to be classified like alcohol by the damn feds. im not much of a researcher (pun intended), however i couldnt find a single stat pointing to a marijuana overdose death as opposed to alcohol overdoses.

TMP78 do you know how many Pot stores there are in San Francisco? Take a guess....try 48!!!! And that is just SF if there are that many people in cronic pain maybe the world should come to an end because the human race has become weak and feeble and should be destroyed. Clarify was you deem a 'pot store'.
Most pot stores do not sell, distribute or have any real marijuana there. They are like bodegas where you can get everything but.
The reality is there are that many people suffering everyday from a wide variety of ailments.
I guess your idea is for the status quo of having all these people hooked on perks, oxy's and other painkillers....which happens to be the #1 killer in terms of drug classifications.

Do u know how many drug stores there in Milwaukee? Do u know how many Liquor store's there are in Boston? What's your fucking point? Number of stores means nothing and your argument is weak. josbran - you sound like some of these pharmaceutical companies who want to continue pushing these synthethic/man made drugs on our society. There's your scam. Take one drug that solves your first symptom, but need another due to the sideaffects. And so on and so on...No different than the local street corner smack dealer looking for the repeat business, except these dealers wear suits! The pharma lobby boast one of the most powerful in Washington and would love nothing more than to continue the status quo.
Maybe you would want to ban cigarettes, alcohol and french fries since they have caused more deaths that Marijuana?

10 joints a day yowser. i smoked for years and never more than 2js a day. i stop when i gotta random on the jobs cause i get tired of carrying fake piss pinned in my drawers all day but i could never smoke 10 joints. you must have alot of friends. i am currently in a holding pattern until i get back to work

I'm surprised that smoking helps your neck pain... it can be great for a huge spectrum of problems but normally back and neck pain aren't one of them - in fact it can increase a lot of back and neck pain in some people. I've heard other people who suffered from seizures say that marijuana is nothing short of a miracle for them. another female in their 40's that I wouldn't expect to use it said it was her last option and she doesn't know how she would live without it now that she has it - no more seizures.
Sergio, are you suggesting that marijuana is worse for your health (and society) than alcohol?

Marijuana cannot kill you. It is virtually impossible to overdose on it. It is impossible to overdose from smoking it. The only way you could overdose is from eating massive, gargantuan amounts of it. In fact, the only marijuana death I have ever heard of was a 5 year-old girl who died after eating a pound of marijuana that her mother had baked into some brownies.
And by the way, alcohol makes you do far more dangerous, stupid things than marijuana ever will. Marijuana does not lower your inhibitions and ruin your judgment the way alcohol does. Also, it is pretty easy to overdose and die from alcohol, as alcohol is actually a poison. Alcohol is also physically addictive, which marijuana is NOT.

no - but it could give you lung cancer if you smoke enough of it. my point is, there are more dangerous things in society that we just learn to live with. We don't ban driving, even though people everyday die on our highways. We have seat belt and speed limit laws. We learn to live with the risks.
The same people pushing prohibition should just look at how that experiment worked in the 1930's, probably the darkest days of our republic.

You're making my point for me. I'm not pushing for prohibition, I'm pushing for legalization. You bring up that we are like the evil pharmaceutical companies pushing our drugs on you - the difference is that their drugs are 10 times more dangerous and many would argue are less effective. IMO alcohol is 10 X more dangerous and has virtually no benefit. I'm not following your logic

The Gal smokes 10 joints a day. She doesn't work so how does she live? Where does she get money from. Probably lives on the public dole like all the other pot heads in the country. As far as the Pharma companies pushing their stuff guess how many people would live to be 80 and 90 years old without these drugs. Would you pot heads give up 20 years of you life to stay high and use the excuse that I'm in pain so just let me get high so I can have fun in life.When Social Security was passed the average male lived to be 58 and full retirement was 65. Now the average man lives to 78 and older. So let's not blame Pharma for all life's problems.
