A graphic video of a 2012 shooting is shedding light on the disturbing force Michigan police used to kill a mentally ill man during a standoff in a Saginaw parking lot.
Officers fired at Milton Hall 45 times, striking him with 14 bullets. The shooting, which sparked outrage two years ago and prompted a federal investigation, was reportedly thoroughly investigated. The Department of Justice, however, failed to find “sufficient evidence of willful misconduct” to prosecute the officers in February. The video, obtained from the American Civil Liberties Union from lawyers for Hall’s family, tells a different story. Hall, who was armed with a penknife, was at least several yards from the nearest officer.

Although the firing squad look of the situation is a bit over the top, at least that knife wielding cretin won't be around to commit anymore crimes.
His mother, Jewel Hall, described her son’s death as “an assassination”, by a “firing squad dressed in uniforms”.“His blood [was] running down the street like water,” Mrs Hall said. “And he wasn't a threat, I mean, he had a little pen knife.
Nowhere does Mrs Hall care to explain what measures over the years she tried to help her son from his unfortunate situation. It sounds like she was happy to forget about his behind until opportunity knocked for her to make a buck or two.

I won't defend the actions of the firing squad. One of the wimps could have donned some protective gear and approached the subject in a non lethal manner.
My point is that Mrs Hall had conveniently forgotten about her son until the opportunity to capitalize on his death made him relevant to her again. Where was your help and guidance Mrs. Hall in the years leading up to this ? Where were you ? You're (was) his mother !

I'm normally supportive of law enforcement but this deal was completely unnecessary. "Wimps" is a perfect fit for the officers involved in this debacle. They should have never fired 1 shot let alone 46, and the fact that they only hit him somewhere between 11 and 14 times supports that idea on a completely different level. And that incessantly barking German Shepherd was no help at all in attempting to de-escalate the situation.
In regards to the mother, I agree with you 100%. She knew that he had been kicked out of the shelter for behavioral issues, and was living in abandoned buildings, meanwhile she was living what appears to be a comfortable life in New Mexico. She currently has a wrongful death civil lawsuit pending against the Saginaw P.D.
