Too Many Characters Error

Not sure if this is an issue for others on here or not. When copy and pasting text to put into a post, I get an error saying I have exceeded 7800 characters. When put into a character count, I get a significantly less count...2000-3000 range. Never exceeding 7800. Any reason why this is happening?

I am posting from a MacBook in Safari taking text from either a Pages or Word document. 

There is a good chance the character count is not factoring in the spaces between words, and is only counting the actual text. So really, posts cannot exceed 7800 characters of space.
