I doubt Patterson would leave TCU because he literally built that program to what it is.... He is king of the mountain there..... He has nothing to prove.
ONLY Texas could run him out of there..... They cant compete on the field so they run off threatening teams, ie, NEB aTm ........ Texas is the most over rated program in college foothall. They can recruit whoever they want in the state...... but they wouldnt know a football coach if they saw one...... ie "coach in waiting" Muschamp????? How do you let a guy like that get away????
Who the hell wants to walk into that?

most coaches who go into broadcasting, go back into coaching. too many examples to name, urban meyer comes to mind right away. steve lavin in college hoops, bob davie in college, etc etc.
guarantee that gruden goes back into coaching............the NFL

ron jaworski never coached
ditka went from the bears to the booth, then to the saints and sucked so he had no choice but to go back to the booth.
jimmy johnson went from the cowboys to the booth, then from the booth to the dolphins, was barely above avg with the dolphins so we went back to the booth,
ditka and johnson are old,
gruden only 49 yrs young and still has the energy 
he'll coach again in the NFL i have little to no doubt, maybe a 5% chance he never coaches NFL again

i seriously doubt he would leave LSU for arkansas. the smart move is to not answer yet for two reasons:
1) to see if LSU will sweeten his current deal.
2) to show future suitors that they can call him and offer him serious dough, and he won't just say no showing so much loyalty to LSU that he would shoot down any offer.
it's called leverage.
only a fool would say Yes or No immediately.
Les Miles stays at LSU. if/when he leaves, it will be to the pros, because there is no upward move from LSU in cfb, only lateral moves

If there's an ounce of truth to the Petersen rumors (and I don't think that there is) it would be the coaching coup of the century for Arkansas.
I think the *best* coach that Arkansas can actually get is Gus Malzahn. He would do well there. Hell, he will do well anywhere and he will not be the coach at Arkansas St. for very long.
