(To the tune of Boats & Hoes)
    Cramps & flags,
    Cramps & flags,
gotta have my cramps & flags

At least Friday nights games were fairly clean...    Hank Bachmeier looked good again and Boise has a defense.  Marshall is good and they couldn't get anything going.   Wake Forest will do well in the ACC

Arizona State?  Didn't see any highlights, but only 19-7 over Sac State...   holding back for Sparty?  The Hawk Bowl is this week

For the 2nd year in a row, Army took a big boy to OT on the road and came up short.  2 pass attempts killed them in the game, both major turnovers.   Wolverines did get screwed on a scoop and score when the ref blew an early whistle, but their issues run deep right now.

Shea Patterson has not been good, can't hang on to the ball and is way too cocky for how he has played there.  The offense went from under center handing off left or right, to shotgun handing off left or right.  Army lived in the backfield all day and plays were predictable.

Ohio State whipped Cincinnati in quite a surprise to me.  The plays that stood out were the hustle the Bearcats had after a potential pick 6 when every player on the team took off trying to stop Borland as he chugged down the sideline.  Very well coached team

Purdue won on Tyler Trent Day, good for them

Maryland for real?  They aren't shy about scoring points

Nebraska choked one away in epic fashion...  the hazy weed smoke must have hit them in the 2nd half

A&M looked good on defense and had Clemson sputtering a bit.  A few great throws by Lawrence and AN ABILITY TO ADJUST (all caps for all the coaches out there who refuse to change the gameplan) to get Etienne the ball through the passing game made the difference.  Kellen Mond was not right in this game, not sure why but he was cramping a few times.

The Charlotte/App State game had 24 accepted penalties for 223 yards.  What is this, the NFL?

Bama allowed 10 points to NMSU.  Saban will be enraged

Teams That Really Suck:  Florida State needed a missed PAT in OT to beat Louisiana Monroe.  Tennessee choked away a last minute lead to BYU and lost in OT.  UCLA lost at home to San Diego State (who scored 6 points last week against Weber State and could barely get a snap to the QB).

May as well follow that up with Rutgers and Kansas falling out of 1st place as they both lost.  Helluva run they had

Sam Howell won the battle of Freshman QB's against Miami and looked good doing it in 4th quarter come from behind fashion.  A solid 16-24 for 274 and 2 TD's.

Miami should get to .500 before they have another conference game, but they have to be deflated after 2 tough losses so far

So Kedon Slovis goes 28/33 for 377 and 3 TDs and he wasn't Clay Helton's first choice this year?   Yeah, he is a terrible coach

I read that Cal beat Washington, but I don't even think that game kicked off while I was awake so I'll need a West Coast boy to fill us in on what happened there

Deja Vu... Minnesota survived Fresno State as Austin Winfield intercepted a pass in the end zone FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW to save the game.

Game of the Year of the Week was in Austin...   A few spring games ago I remember seeing Joe Burrow throw some really nice passes in Columbus but he left.  He has definitely proven to be something special and more importantly, something that LSU has not had in a loooooong time.  Both QB's lit up the game and Sam Ehlinger is tougher than someone that can sit through a Matthew McConaughey movie.   LSU's play calling was ballsy and great and had 3 WR's going over 120 yards.   62 days until November 9th

    TV Stuff...

College Gameday, a once informative show has devolved into a 3 hour fluff piece filled with buffoonery and stupidity that is no longer watchable by anyone with half a brain.  Having Lee Corso out there is a joke, having The Bear making picks and the hosts nodding their heads and reading from their scripts as if they know what he's talking about is an insult to all of us here.

Living in Big Ten country I get a solid pregame show on Big Ten Network but they don't cover everything nationally

mbialowas said yesterday that the Fox pregame show is solid, I am going to have to check that out this week, even though Brady Quinn and his eyebrows are on it.

That's all for now.   If you have something to say, go for it

In regards to the AZ state game, there r no highlights cuz there ain’t any. Surprisingly I watched that shit show as well. Let’s just say the true freshman qb for the sun devils ain’t that good at the moment. Bad decision maker, missed throws, etc. Matter of fact, Sac state had a GREAT chance to win that game. Herm Edwards is gonna have a long year trying to get that squad to play well.

    Hawk Squawk........

When did Maryland hire Art Briles from Baylor?

Oh, Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy. What are you doing going 2 OTs vs NAVY? How about losing your job? 111,747 witnessed this, mind you. Always saying your offense will be more explosive. Hey, we got Shea Patterson from the SEC. 19 for 29, while Zach Charbonnet gets 33 carries for an even 100 yards. (check your Heisman watch-let me know the odds, okay? Thanks!)

CBSSports has the running Twitter line going. In the second overtime, mind you, a linebacker tackled an Army ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage. IT WAS THE FIRST TACKLE FOR LOSS IN THE GAME…….ouch.

Tip of the cap to Jimbo Fisher for the best backdoor cover in a long time. 91 yard drive, 4 and goal at the two, brilliant 2-yard strike to J.Wydermyer from a vastly over-rated Kellen Mond to cover the 17………..

The Nickster failed to cover the 55.5 against New Mexico St., and NOW he starts complaining about scheduling? Uh, pot, meet kettle. I guess Coastal Carolina was busy.

    They were.

Beating the Mad Hatters Jayhawks, 12-7 IN KANSAS.

LSU at Texas was The Game of The Year. I’m on the clock here, not enough words to describe this game. I’ll stick with epic, and wait for a long time for a game this good…

Out West, UCLA lost to San Diego State, 23-14, with 36,951 “in attendance” third lowest in Bruin history. They had been 16-0 vs. SD St before Saturday. There were so many seats empty, the Pac-12 network cameramen made sure to photograph they included the players on the sidelines, but crowd shots were non-existent…. Brian Kelly has now lost to Cincy and now, this…..

USC beat #23 Stanford, in a battle of backup Qbs, and……………nobody cares.

Florida State managed to beat La-Monroe 45-44 in Overtime when Monroe missed the tying extra point for the tie. Outstanding defensive scheming from Willie Taggert and crew, who must have been well-hydrated. Must have been hard to hear about Gatorade in Florida. BTW, State paid $1.65 million for this cream puff, and if you bet $2000 on the ML, you won your $100! Stand tall!

$100 bucks says Antonio Brown signed with the Patriots because he thought he could play against the Patriots tonight….

When Gameday breathes even one sentence about whatever letters fighting……..it’s fridge time…..

It will go unnoticed, but James Franklin....up 38-13 with 3 minutes left.....1st down near midfield.....could have easily called a few runs up the gut and called it a day.....but nooe, he calls a post pattern and they get a 57 yard td....didnhe know the spread or is he just that big of a douche? He single handedly cost them the OSU game last year....yep, hes a douche

James Franklin is a considered a real d!ck in the coaching profession.  ..... a lot of the coaches wives that we keep in touch with actually can't stand him probably worse than their husbands that coach.

And I noticed..... cost me on the Total as well.

Brothers and Girls, we gather this morning to mourn the Covers NCAAF faithful from the remnants of Hurricanes Mean Green, Cuse, Cincy, Frosty, Hawaii, and of couse...Hurricane Manny.

How could such a collective be dashed upon the Rocks of Vig Beach?  But ALAS....a beaming, shining Light of Hope!!!!  The PMS (Puke Mexico State) Aggies hung DD's on the Evil One!  (And covered! !)

The quote of the Millennium was uttered afterwards by none other than Darth Saban himself about his scheduling prowess, somthing like this....

"Well, (Reaganesque head nod for effect).... if someone would come play us, that would be great.   But it's hard getting folks to play us."

Note the word "come".  Nicky has ZERO interest in a home and home series - unless both "homes" are in Tuscaloosa.  So he cuts 7 figure checks to the Aggies Empire to come get woodsheded.  (Rumor is UC -Davis or N.C. AT &T are next!)

Yes Satan,  upon your exile from the Dolphins, there was actually a 4 games in 10 year gig with Notre Dame - 2 home and 2 away.  The latter part was not suitable apparently after you arrived.  Hmmmmm.

    There, that's better.

    Michigan, Oh My Poor Michigan.

There's a reason I didn't bet the Wolv's in week 1. And then I thought they would rebound week 2, what was I thinking!!?

All summer long I hated it every time Harbaugh spoke, except when he said controversy follows Meyer, of course. Nothing came out of his mouth except, "we deserve to be considered #1 in the Big 10, Shea is playing lights out, WR's Black and Bell sooo good, offensive line so much better, etc, etc.
NEVER was there spoken; We need to improve, we have areas that need to be addressed. Even now he says both teams (Army) scratched and clawed in a hard battle. Really?
The fact is Michigan does not yet have a WR who can stretch the field and Patterson is just not good throwing deep anyways. And there are key injuries popping up just like MSU last year. Keep these injuries coming and it will be one bad year. Stupid penalties along with more fumbles than ALL of last year says coaches not doing their job!
Harbaugh NOT good with bye week and road games, they will lose to Wisky. Maybe then they can straighten a few things out.

And I didn't even see the game! In fact I saw no college games this weekend, explains why I'm so cynical!!

    Michigan State coach Dantonio says after Tulsa game;
“I can say this, that football is a game of effort and toughness and knowing what to do,” Dantonio said on Tuesday morning ahead of Saturday’s game against Western Michigan in East Lansing. “Half of our team figured that out, half of it didn’t. We will make sure that other half gets figured out this week. That’s my message to our football team.”
Great statement and great team response. Gotta like this guy.

Nebraska so far just what I expected. Frost goes to UCF and turns a dysfunctional team full of athletes into a winner. Sorry folks, the Huskers are not full of athletes at the moment. Kicking myself for not going much larger on my GOY bet of Ohio State -7 at Neb. Sure looks good right now! And RSW total of Neb under 8.5 at even money.

Maryland, WOW! scoring more per game than their basketball team. Bet Penn State throttles them on the 27th.

Welcome to the College Football Playoffs Clem. That's right, play 1 ranked team and you win the golden ticket. Will there be another ranked team on their schedule the rest of the season? Don't get me wrong, they are good, defending champions but to play one competitive game and that's it is a little ridiculous.

Again, I want to start a partition to eliminate ACC (All Crap Conference) from group of 5 and welcome in the MWC, especially Hawaii, with 2 wins over the Pac 12.

Feel like an "All in the Family" sitcom. Those were the days, when gas came in regular, phones, you had to actually rotate a dial to make a call and Shoney's breakfast bar was the bomb. Oh, and when Tennessee, Miami and UCLA were respectable programs.

LSU going to Bama should be an instant classic.

An why don't more teams run the triple option more often? Army runs it to precision.

Poor Michigan. tOSU will light that arse up once again.

Welcome to the College Football Playoffs Clem. That's right, play 1 ranked team and you win the golden ticket. Will there be another ranked team on their schedule the rest of the season? So you just compared this years Wolverines defense to last years Oklahoma defense?

You are by far the most delusional 'fan' on these boards.  Look at the difference between posts 12 & 13...   one face painter who thinks Michigan can do no wrong no matter what, versus an educated fan who can root for his team while being critical at the same time.

Sparty's "We want to look like Oregon from 10 years ago" uni's took a lot of flack over the summer. So they use them in a non-con game.

Didn't mention Ohio State above so here goes.
Ryan Day has produced a well oiled machine. The first four possessions to start the year against FAU showed just that. Cinci no match at all. The question from here on out is how they handle themselves after winning easily. For some reason I feel like Fields will be a "headcase' in the future. Maybe just wishful Wolverine thinking. We'll see.

LSU/OU would be a decent Championship game.

Colorado once again ruins Nebraska’s season. Bet the Huskers don’t regroup after that one.

Arkansas better watch out against CSU next weekend. Lack of offense doesn’t work in this day and age.

The PAC 12 is as bad as it has ever been.

Will UCLA win a game this season?

UCLA should have put a clause in Kelly's contract that made the contract null and void if they had 2 losing seasons in a row.

USC made Stanford look bad and they are not a bad team.  The new OC is what they needed.

I wish the TV executives would realize we tune into the games to watch football and not to listen to their idiot announcers.  Take a note from Vince Scully and shut up once and a while.

    Careful, gentlemen,

We don't want to bring on kammer-time! God forbid someone say something bad about Michigan! Because nobody but me has ever done that (Oh, and Uniman........and GASportsDoc.......but, it's still early)

Funny you mentioned the Army-Oklahoma game. I mentioned it in a Squawk last year. When the game was over, the Oklahoma fans gave the Army team a standing ovation, and serenaded with cheers as they left the field. What did Michigan do at the end of the game? They ran to a corner of the stadium, jumped up on the stands edge, crossed their arms, and acted like they beat a Top10 opponent. Meanwhile, there stood Army at midfield, looking for someone, anyone to shake hands with except themselves............stay classy, b*itches.

Once again, I'll remind everybody I'm a Spartan by marriage. Because I want to promote marital harmony........whatever.

Another way Michigan is like Oklahoma is that they are not quite good enough............to even make the playoffs.

Seems like the Big Ten ends up in court or investigated for things.......Ohio State with Urban (didn't know) Meyer, Penn State (JoePa KNEW), Buckeyes again with TattooGate costing Jim Tressel, and now Michigan State. Thing is, THEY ALL GOT CAUGHT, and paid a price. You might check out USC, (no West Coast bias here) also embroiled in major litigation. Michigan brought their own problems by themselves in Harbaugh. Hell, I even wanted Michigan to beat Ohio State (keep wanting, right, kammer?), but it just hasn't happened yet.

So, be advised. Don't poke the bearan_shake

"On a fourth-and-2 at the Army 19 with less than 10 minutes remaining in a tie game, Harbaugh blew off the potential go-ahead field goal to go for the first down, and the Wolverines promptly lost four yards. On the next possession Harbaugh went for a fourth-and-1 at the Army 43, with 2:32 remaining in a still-tied game, when punting and forcing a slow-tempo, ground-bound offense to drive the length of the field would have been the smart play. That fourth-down decision ended badly as well, and it gave Army a shot at a 50-yard field goal at the end of regulation that came up short." "The analytics told us to go for it,” Harbaugh said of the second decision, passing the buck deftly to some vague mathematics compiled by God knows who."

"This is the modern coaching equivalent of the old “The Devil Made Me Do It” excuse for bad behavior. If “the analytics” included time, score and style of opponent data, maybe. But I’m guessing they didn’t. It was a bad decision that Harbaugh needed to own and was lucky to survive."

Speaking of the "Analytics"....    I kept hearing about it during the Army/Michigan game.   When Army had 4th & 2 near midfield in the 2nd half they punted.   When Army had 4th & 1 at their own 15 against Rice they went for it.   Does any of that make sense?

Kept hearing that yesterday as well and NO I don't understand it. It does make sense that we should concentrate more on their unders the majority of the time. My "analytics" said they should not have thrown the ball down on the goal line and just ran it, kicked the FG and go up by 10.
