South Florida enters the Cure Bowl as a massive value play because the market has completely overcorrected to their recent coaching and roster changes. While the Bulls opened as high as 7.5-point favorites in some books, the line has plummeted to a mere field goal, creating a prime "buy-low" opportunity on a roster that is significantly more talented than Old Dominion's. Despite the departure of Alex Golesh to Auburn, the Bulls are playing under interim coach Kevin Patrick, a program legend who has the total respect of a locker room desperate to secure the first 10-win season in nearly a decade. The energy in Tampa is at an all-time high following the announcement of Ohio State’s Brian Hartline as the new head coach, effectively turning this game into a high-stakes audition for every player on the field to prove they belong in what will likely be a national-caliber system next season.
While ODU’s defense is statistically stout, they have not faced an offense with this much pure, vertical speed all year, and USF's "Go-Go" system remains in place to exploit that. The Bulls' backfield features two elite, home-run threats in Nykahi Davenport and Sam Franklin, who can turn a simple screen or draw into a 60-yard touchdown in a way Sun Belt defenses rarely see. On the other side of the ball, Old Dominion is actually in a worse position offensively; they lost Sun Belt Player of the Year Colton Joseph to the portal, and unlike USF, the Monarchs do not have the depth to replace his 3,600 yards of total offense. USF’s defense ranks 12th nationally in turnover margin and should be able to rattle ODU’s freshman quarterback Quinn Henicle early and often. Playing essentially a home game in Orlando with a talent-rich roster looking to impress a new era of leadership, the Bulls are positioned to prove that their system is bigger than any one coach and cover this deflated number with ease.
As much as I love OD they are just simply outmatched here in talent.

Hey guys,
This is my POD here for its value.

Yes, I am aware of the programs choice to keep him out, and that 6th year Senior Gaston Moore AKA "Gas Pipe" as TheGhost4Five said up above (Actually not sure how he obtained that Nickname)
But either way I feel he can carry the weight left over by Brown. They just have simply way too many weapons for OD to contend with.

The overall Physicality South Florida holds over OD will be evident tonight....... I am on S Florida
Completely agree, OD has had an amazing season no doubt but even with those disruptions mentioned with SF they have so much depth here. Which is why they are my POD.

Im on the same side for most of the same reasons. Gas Pipe is apparently very well liked and I think the team will ball out to get this veteran backup a first ever win in his last ever game. He has played in 7 games before and has been at UCF and then Tennessee with the interim coaches (as has their best deep threat WR Chaz Nimrod) so he does know the system and basically he didn't see the field much because he was backing up guys like Dillon Gabriel, Hendon Hooker and now Byrum Brown. All their best weapons are playing, they have 30 seniors, they've won 2 bowls last 2 years so going for 3 in a row with no long travel like last year when they outlasted 5 OTs to win the Hawaii Bowl.
I respect ODU's defense but they don't get takeaways like the Bulls do and their FR QB only played one game last year the finale vs Arkansas St. He ran absolutely wild on them but the Red Wolves were 121st vs the run, S Florida is much better than that (tho they suck vs the pass) he only completed 9 passes all game.
Like yourself I don't think the Bulls had the 2nd ranked ypg offense just because Byrum Brown is some phenomenal QB, they had a very good system and WRs that are very good, 2 good seniors and a FR that leads all freshmen in TDs (i think, he did after the navy game anyway)

I have to admit in my 30+ years of Sports betting i have never seen a game so far rigged in favor of the Underdog.
Now I am NOT saying this because i Lost. I wholeheartedly admit i Lost but let's break it down completely shall we?
South Florida while yes being shorthanded were seldom given a decent referee play call whilst having just about everything negative against them be called. Already shorthanded they held OD to a very reasonable 17 points. I don't count that BS last TD run.
Every inch of this game was officiated in favor of Old Dominion. No doubt they played well but they needed A LOT of help to win this game and they got it.

The targeting call that overturned the fumble was just bullshit. Is this not tackle football anymore. That player led with his shoulder, the runner put his head down and they collided at full speed. What was the tackling player supposed to do, tuck his head like a turtle. Just awful these days when hard hits take place.

COMPLETELY AGREE. and it's byfar the Premise of my rant tonight. I rarely if ever complain about bad beats or bad calls as it happens in every game whether you're the beneficiary or recipient of it....
HOWEVER...that call was amazingly game changing. South Florida would have had the ball AND the momentum after that hit ...Yet they confirmed targeting when I saw every replay and could NOT see that as an egregious hit but simply a sound Defensive tackle that scuffed his helmet but mostly landed on his shoulder pads and mid chest.
Kid you not that play call has STRONGLY questioned my initiative to keep betting on this bullshit.
