Not sure how you'd expect a guy to field a snap let alone throw a ball if he has so much as a pinched nerve.  If you've got a dead arm, you got a dead arm.  Do you honestly think a 4 year starter is not going to try and play for the title in his last game if he could?  You think a kid like that is afraid- please- he went to a 2A high school in Texas and started as a college freshman.

The whole thing sucks- I lost money on the game, and I'd like to have seen the match up without the injury- but if you think he held himself out, you're smoking crack.

I have played football but I don't think that matters when talking about Colt McCoy.

He didn't get the wood laid to him. He even said so himself. Face reality. He didn't sustain that serious of an injury and he put his questionable future ahead of everything he's worked for up to this point. It was a sad end to a great college career. But his lame attempt at shedding tears will stick in everyone's mind now. Sorry you can't accept this.

My only issue here is that they pulled daddy down from the stands and made him be the bad guy.  If Colt doesn't want to play, he doesn't want to play and I respect that, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  Dad was called in and then the decision was made.  Colt not making the call himself makes him the box.

A lotta hate but, I've never seen a gamer not try and go...think Byron Leftwich getting carried to the line of scrimmage, Tiger Woods playing a round with a destroyed knee (and hundreds of millions at risk), etc. 

This was a decision about money and its a lot of money so who knows what any of us would do.  But, I know a Brett Favre type plays the second half.

McCoy only has himself and his team to answer to...the rest of us don't matter and shouldn't matter.  However, I will say this...as he casually strolled to the x-ray room in the underbelly of the stadium, I knew right then and there that he had no intention of taking the field again.  Almost like he was content in preserving his NFL future...whatever that may be.  Can't say I've ever seen that before in a National Championship game.

I am amazed by the idiocy in this thread.  Look, I know it sucks to lose a bet because the star QB goes out of the game on the first series.  I know - - it has happened to me more than once.  If it is your anger over losing a bet in this fashion that is driving this temporary insanity, I get it.  If you still believe this after you get over your anger, something is wrong with you.  If the coaches and doctors let him play, he would have.  Period.  End of story.  And if you think his emotion was fake at the end of the game, then you need more help.  I hate the Longhorns in general, but that kid gives his all and was a great college player.  I felt terrible for him.

There will be plenty of people at UT that will back up their hero. But I'll bet there will be some teammates that feel the way I do and we'll hear them too.

Colt McCoy had a great career at Texas but his heart came up short in the biggest game of his college career. And it's that which will tarnish his image. Some athletes have incredible heart and some come up short when they're tested. We have our answer about Colt McCoy.
