This was an e-mail I received today.
I can't vouch for its credibility but it makes for fine reading.
Then again it may all be true........

Take this for what it's worth, but there's a guy on the Tiger Lair called lsub. He's apparently got some connections in the AD office and has "scooped" things before, so he's pretty highly regarded but he doesn't spout off too much, so he's like EFHutton, when he speaks, people listen. He just posted this on the lair a little while ago and the place exploded:

Okay, for those who stayed on today, A NEW COACHING UPDATE, from 2 of my sources. Do not shoot LSUB.

1- Pellini is taking the Nebraska job. It was done in the last 2 days but has been worked on for a few weeks. They did not know about Arkansas meeting with Pellini.
2- Something happened this weekend at LSU. Miles stepped up efforts for the Michigan job and has people rallying others for support. The feeling is mutual with a few big time donors and Skip. Both parties are wanting to go seperate ways. LSU knows it cannot fire him so they hope he takes the job to Michigan . It is a mutual feeling of hope for seperation. BTW, Bertman didn't know about the Pellini interview and blew a gasket internally. It was ugly.
3- My sources have spoken with agents and as of a few days ago, Spurrier was not interested in the LSU job. Now, that can change and change quickly. Right now, Spurrier is not interested no matter what you read. That comes from the agents.
4- Brace yourself and do not shoot the messenger. There are 3 big time donors at LSU and some BOS who want 1 person back at LSU. I have said it and said it. Here is the deal, 3 million per year for 10 years with a 10 million+ buyout. For a man that doesn't do buyouts, that is huge. They verified the wife wanted her house back and they verified the powers that be feel a shock will be felt but a few wins will replace the shock. I will not type his name because some may throw their computer. BTW, this goes with what was posted earlier about money and contracts and my sources have never heard of the lair.
5- Tommy Tubberville wants the Arkansas job. He secretly put feelers out to return to Ole Miss. I kid you not. He wants out of Auburn bad. There is a secret deal at Auburn between Bobby Lowder and Bobby Petrino and Tubberville will not have to pay the buyout if he leaves. The question is does Arkansas want him. He wants the LSU job but doesn't think he can get it. Jimmy is pushing Saban. Stay tuned for this one.
6- Back to Miles. I saved the best for last. If Michigan does not have a coach by Friday, Les Miles will be named their new HC next week. Ferentz is in the picture but it is to help leverage a better long term deal and facility upgrade at Iowa . There are some people at Michigan who are old friends helping him get more out of Iowa . It appears Miles will be the man at Michigan and skip is aware of Mac and Miles stepping up efforts for the job but again, the feelings are mutual.
Now, take this for what it's worth. My 2 sources do not know each other and both confirmed all 6 issues including Tubberville and Ole Miss. They know what is going on behind close doors. Now, I am a messenger here. Out of the 90k that sits in Death Valley , we make up a small % on this board. The powers that be and make the decisions don't really care about us and will do what they want. The feeling is 90% or higher only care about winning and all will be okay with a MNC. With that said, post away.

Then Scott McKay, who used to have a TigerRag-type magazine, posted this:

Hey lsub - just talked with my guy who knows...

...what the hell is going on, and he said he more or less agreed with everything you posted.
With the exception of the Saban thing.
He says there's no question that Saban has some support among the powers that be. But he doesn't think they can put that deal past anybody who works at LSU - none of them want to deal with Saban coming back here. Not Skip, though he won't have much to say about this, not the astronaut, not Lombardi, and not anybody who works on the sixth floor. There will be something of an internal struggle about it, but the muckety-mucks on Essen are not going to win - and they ultimately will not go to the mat on this when Lombardi and the governor-elect are getting to be pretty good friends.
Look out for one Jack Del Rio.

Like I mentioned in the other thread, All he talk on sprots radio in Jax. is Del Rio will talk with LSU if he is called to talk.

He has kids that go there and a wife who went there. Plus he is not paid alot by the Jags... kinda middle of the road salary. You know and I know LSU would fork out some CASH for the coach the wanted . Whomever that may be...

Gonna be a fun "coaching offseason"

Well as a LSU alum ....i keep my ear close to the ground. The Tubby situation was just speculation, as he just signed an extension. No way Saban comes back to LSU. And the Petrino rumors are just that.....big fat lies. Del Rio appears to be the front runner, but then again he has zero college experience. That is the real kicker, as the new coach will have to have experience in recruiting, which is the single most important aspect to college coaching. LSU has the field of potatoes, but if you don't have the right tractor to harvest them, they will rot. DiRetardo proved that in spades. Leach at Texas Tech would be the best choice IMHO.

Leach would be a terrible choice IMO. . .  He'd be a media nightmare cause he's such a goofball.  Not to mention that he's never held a position at a high-profile university (probably for that reason), and his coaching style would not work in a program that expects to win SEC and National titles.  Again, my opinion - but there's a good reason why he hasn't been snatched up already.

Did you watch the Texas Tech/Oklahoma game?  It's obvious TT only knows one gear: Pass and score.  When it came time to put the game away and control the clock, TT had zero idea how to do it.  They had no horses whatsoever, and gave Oklahoma quite a few chances to get back in it. Had Bradford not been hurt, they'd have probably lost or at least went into OT, and TT would have lost another heartbreaker.  It's tough for me to understand that in the great big football factory state of Texas, they can't recruit one running back who can get 3-4 yards a carry pounding the ball between the tackles when the game is on the line to put it away, or they need to slow the game down and control clock.  This is why TT is consistently an 8-4 at best team, instead of having a couple 11-1 years and a shot at something really big once in a while.  They can score on anyone, and certainly can score enough to upset teams a few times, but overall, it's not going to be something you can win every game with.

Now. . .  coaching a team like Arkansas - who just expects to consistently compete - would damn sure make the SEC a little more fun. . .

Well guys some of this stuff is intresting. But one thing I wiil say is Saban is a REAL possibility to coach LSU next year and that comes from someone I trust. DelRio would leave Jaxsonville in a heartbeat if he is approached bt LSU. Saban would come back to LSU at a reduced price also. We'll see.

Petelapot --  How much signifigance  do you give to the Spurrier rumors?  He would be crazy to not want a position like LSU's.
He'd have all the talent and then some that he had with Florida in the 90's.
Like Mr. Win said Louisiana and Texas is a hot bed for young athletes and he's no slouch at recruiting.
There are a lot of sports talk radio guys talking about Spurrier, but they don't know if LSU will pony up the money to get it done.
I don't put a lot of stock in the dribble that comes across my radio, but just wondering what everyone thinks about this.

Spurrier has no pressure at South Carolina, and he seriously does nothing but Golf and coach.  He'd be crazy to leave there, he runs that place.  I think he's having more fun facing the challenge of building up a program that previously defined mediocrity, and seeing how well he can compete with them.

He gets frustrated at a loss sure - and especially with how this season ended, but then he goes out to his plethora of golf courses we have in the state, and forgets all about it.  Here, he's considered a God by SC fans, and he does things on his own terms.  I think that's the way he likes it and I'm not sure he'd be able to do that anywhere else.  I'm not sure he wants to be back at a pressure cooker again.

That's the vibe I get living here in the state anyway. . .

This is interesting, to say the least. No way Saban returns. The man burns bridges, and then pisses on the remains to make sure the fire is out...........

I think Spurrier wants to build Carolina, not take the reins...........

Del Rio? I gotta think most coaches would think this would be a step down. I mean, don't all these college coaches think of the NFL as "the next level"?

Great thread though. One thing is for sure. LSU has to get a "name" coach. The expectations are way too high. Top Ten just ain't good enough............

No he didn't.  If you read the title of the ESPN article (which I'm assuming is were you got this from) it says "IN PRINCIPLE".  That basically mean that Jacobs said "hey Tubs, you want an extension?" and Tubs said "sure, why not..."

Tubs never signed anything, as he wants pay raises for his assistants, himself, and he wants facility upgrades all lumped together in a contract.  So basically this contract would take weeks to write up, but they've only til Dec. 1st to do it (per Tubs' contract).  If they don't get it in by then, Tubs either has to stay under the clauses of his existing contract, or he is free to leave...

The people that post in this thread are for the most part concerned about the state of the Coaching job at LSU because of ties to the university or just general interest.
I appreciate anyone giving any input that they have heard out there regarding this subject.
As for your opinion about LSU being "overrated", that is your opinion and you are most welcome to it but I please keep that to you own thread please.
I honestly believe that Pelini has a decent shot at getting that job in Nebraska and as an LSU grad and fan I can say you can have the him.
I'm tired of seeing our defense perform under their expectations.
We have some of the best athletes in the country and they allow a team like Ole Miss to come and put up gaudy numbers against a defense that is supposed to be one of the best in the country.
LSU as a team has some of the best talent in the country.
Our coaching staff has made some very questionable calls all season.
Our coaching staff, including Pelini, is overrated and for your statement earlier I hope he does go to Nebraska and I wish the very best to you and your overrated defense for years to come.

TigerDegenerate, I usually don't put alot of stock in rumors concerning LSU football. I usually go to the 3 or 4 guys I respect and often get info from. As far as Spurrierr is concerned LSU would make a huge play from him depending on how his meeting in Baton Rouge went. I would tend to believe that alot of chips would have to fall in place for that to happen but it's not out of the question. I did hear from someone I trust that Saban would return to LSU at a discounted rate but I don't know if the big boys in Baton Rouge will go for it. Now that brings me to DelRio. He and his family have huge ties to Baton Rouge and the Gonzalez area. His wife went to LSU and graduated from there and both of his daughters are presently attending LSU. I have no other info to him or if he has been approached by LSU. They say he doesn't have experience in recruiting, but let's face it he doesn't have to go past Louisiana and Texas to recruit. Should be intresting though, we'll see.

Thanks for addressing jmike100, another useless post in a very good thread. As far as one thing you saidf, LSU coaches have made some questionable calls this year. How about 4th and 10 in OT and we rush 2 defensive lineman andf there top receiver this year the FB is wide open 11 yards in the flat. Blitz Casey Dick and LSU wins the game right there. Bo don't know shit.

I appreciate the insight and agree it will be interesting to watch.
I just hope that the brass at LSU have a solid game plan and are willing to go out and get a winner.
The future (talent) looks bright for this young team.
I hope we can get a good coach in there to solidify the program.

I appreciate the insight and agree it will be interesting to watch.
I just hope that the brass at LSU have a solid game plan and are willing to go out and get a winner.
The future (talent) looks bright for this young team.
I hope we can get a good coach in there to solidify the program.

wow Del Rio going to LSU would be crazy..i can see the defensive mindset transferring well and i would be happy for that hiring...I just don't get how the SEC coaches have no loyalty like that dumbass Tom O'Brien who left BC for in-conference NCSU. C'mon fellas how can you work somewhere for so long and then end up facing them almost every year

    great info, thanks!
