Florida vs bama is the true title game? Why? There are plenty of mediocre teams in the sec. All conferences are similar. A few strong at the top than crap all the way down. Too many unbeatens and honestly even 1 and 2  loss teams that could win a tourney.  Utah absolutely smacked alabama last year and i think tcu could do the same to a  few of these teams. Its a sport that just picks and chooses its champions. Coll basketball will forever be better than coll football.

the only thing good about college basketball is the tourney. The regular season sucks now, with the one and done rule.

College hoops use to be my favorite, but now I only look forward to the tourney, mainly for the pools.

But week to week, football is much better, not even close.

Osiris is 100% correct.  WCTrojan, football is the better game but we are talking about deciding the national champion, and college football has no clue.

I use to be against a playoff, but I've come around, only if it involved 4-6 teams, not the 8-12 I've seen being proposed. No need for that many teams.

How often have we just finished watching the NC game and thought the winner wasnt the best team? Not that often. I'm ok with the way it is, but a 4-6 team playoff would be ok with me too.

How often do we watch the title game and think the best team didnt won? Well to me EVERY year. The reason: its not played out. Yeah there is a good chance that team who won may have won a tourney but you dont know.

Ok here is why coll basketball reg season is better. Come late feb you are battling to either get in the dance or improve your seeding. If your a bad team your trying to improve your conference standing to maybe get a better draw for your conference tourney. All of those reasons make the games mean something.

Now coll footballs reg season has SOOO many meaningless games. You know what i mean by meaningless. Say you have a 9-2 lsu team facing a 9-2 lsu. Well the game means nothing. You are most likely out of the title race. Go look over the last few weeks worth of games and tell me how many games truly matter. I dont care about a conf title or a win over a rival. You can have a cookie for those wins later. Its terrible

Thats where you're wrong, saying games are meaningless. Yes games are meaningless once you lose a couple, in terms of title hopes. But EVERY SINGLE week matters. You cant slip up. Thats what I love about it. I kind of like knowing if my team loses, its over. Every game matters. A 9-2 team shouldn't have a shot at making their seaon by winning a championship due to a playoff.

How meaningless are games in college basketball right now? VERY.

Again, a 4 team playoff would be cool, but then you'll have the 5th or 6th best team crying.

    What would you propose?

Ok here is why coll basketball reg season is better. Come late feb you are battling to either get in the dance or improve your seeding. If your a bad team your trying to improve your conference standing to maybe get a better draw for your conference tourney. All of those reasons make the games mean something.

Now coll footballs reg season has SOOO many meaningless games. You know what i mean by meaningless. Say you have a 9-2 lsu team facing a 9-2 lsu. Well the game means nothing.

No your wrong. First of all i just gave my reason for why coll basketball games are never meaningless. You are always playing for something that in some way relates to a title chase. That is what we play for and watch. Again in coll ftball not every game every week matters. In this country westcoast, we decided our champions by what happens in the postseason regardless of the sport. You can be allowed to lose a game and still get there. A 9-2 team playing another 9-2 team is meaningless. Translate that to a late season coll bball game and alot is on the line. Like i said i would want a playoff of more than 8 teams. Like 16.

Utah smacked Alabama last year because Bama didn't give a shit. They lost to Florida and missed the title game after going undefeated, they didn't give two shits about Utah or that game.

The same thing will happen to whomever loses the Bama/Florida game this year.

First of all id be throwing the bowls right down the sewer system yes. Again your making more regular season games mean something cuz they are playing for a chance to get in the tourney. How many games the last 2 weeks actually meant something in terms of the nc title hunt? What maybe 3 or 4 last week and a few the week before?  Exactly what did the georgia georgia tech game mean saturday? NOTHING.

Then saban should be fired asap. I dont buy that for 1 sec. Sounds like your making an early excuse if they lose. How many chances do these 18-20 yr olds get to play in the sugar bowl in there life? Not many. They got beat by a better team.

How many chances do 18-20 year old kids get to play in the national championship against what was a powerhouse like Oklahoma? These guys were the #1 team and had not lost all year. They were supposed to be in that game. Instead they lose to Florida and instead of being in the game of all games they are stuck facing a team from a state I guarantee 80% of those kids couldn't point out on a map if it was labeled. What a letdown.

College football "fans" are divided into two camps - those who love college football and those who love their particular college football team.  Virtually every "college football fan" I've met in Celveland or Pittsburgh is actually an Ohio State or Penn State fan.  They will not be watching Oregon/Oregon State this Thursday.  Some, like me, love college football itself (though I root for UVa and LSU), and can't wait to watch Oregon/Oregon State this Thursday.

If you're a fan of a particular team, of course you want a playoff, because nothing else matters but the success or failure of your team.  If you love the sport itself, I think it gets more complicated.  I am against a playoff, though the price I pay for that is having a team like TCU frozen out every once in a while.  I understand people who disagree with me, but please note that college basketball has just begun its three-month exhibition calendar, during which the only things at stake in most games is what color uniform a team will be wearing in the second round of its conference tournament.  Every now and then, we'll see a game that is critical for determining whether Cal or Arizona State gets the 5th bid from the Pac-10.  Please wake me in March.

Again, I understand the desire for a football playoff, but it's a lot more complicated than "just do it like they do it in basketball."

If your a great program like bama, then get up and play that game right. Thats bullshit. Utah deserves it just for playing harder than that group of trash from tuscaloosa.

improve seeding for conference tourney ?? another reason why college bball is lame.....play a whole conference season just for a seeding in a conference tourney ??

if it wasn't for brackets the tourney would get lower ratings than it already does....

I like what you have to say here but i feel its not a 3 month exhibition in bball. Hey if its a game for the 5th spot in the pac 10 than thats  important because they are playing for spot in the tourney to win a title. Not saying they will win but the games are then played out on the court. I think all games in coll bball are playing to either get to the dance, improve or hurt seeding which is important, or help a bad team just get to its conference tourney. If you look at it that way than its importang.

lame freakin excuse on alabama first of all.

now getting to the main point, i love betting on the bowl games so i dont wanna see them go.  i do think we have enough room for both however.  no one really gives a shit about the bowls except for team fans and the degenerates who bet the game.  there should be able to be some kinda compromise made, 6 bcs conference winners and 2 at larges (tcu and boise this year), who wouldnt wanna watch that tournament?
