I just want to know if he'd be able to learn a pro style offense. I have no clue, you guys know better than me.
He's got the pistol and rpo thing down pretty well. Maybe 2 reads max and usually half the field.
I just don't see any team running an offense like IU does besides Shane Steichen with the Colts. Steichen seemed to be the only guy who made Jalen Hurts "work" in the NFL with the Eagles.
OC Zac Robinson from Atlanta ran similar stuff, but Raheem Morris and that staff got the boot.
What do you guys think? The Raiders are coach-less, and have arguably the worst o line in the nfl. But I suppose they're a true rebuild anyhow, so do you start with a kid like Mendoza?

Considering he's projected to go #1 overall.

I see a lot of Sam Darnold in him.... he should work well in many schemes but whenever you go to an inept franchise like the Raiders, Jets, etc...
You have to transcend organizational dysfunction which can be a lot to ask if you aren't special. Only a few people come to mind that have in the last few years. Burrow being the biggest example and even he can't get over the hump in Cincy.

First, you are correct. Raiders are a mess. O-line is in shambles. Wide receiver Tre Tucker is the best option and after that Jack Bech has the most yards (at Wide Receiver). I'm not including Brock Bowers. So its a disaster. Now do they have alot of cap space. Absolutely. Does having Brady in the building help. 100%. But there will be growing pains.
Secondly, Mendoza. The kid has solid traits and skills. I'm not saying that he will be Mahomes, Josh Allen, Matt Stafford. But to me he has a mid ceiling but high floor. Like a Philip Rivers (career not arm technique). He doesn't get frazzled when he gets hit and he seems grounded and has good arm strength and touch.
Raiders need to take him regardless. He can be a franchise (top 10-12) qb.
Just my 2 cents.

There are 2 ways to look at this.

Of course. Mendoza very much reminds me of Jared Goff where he is highly highly accurate, especially with the 10-15 yard throw. Makes good decisions, doesn't turn the ball over. Cal really knows how to produce quality QB's.

Yeah he’s a tough kid that seems to make good decisions most of the time under pressure. Depends on where he lands, if he doesn’t have protection and gets the shit kicked out of him, he won’t last unfortunately. We’ve seen it too many times

He’s playing in a dome and just crow hopped a barely 50 yarder ?? Brock Purdy threw a 55 yard attempt under pressure no problem. His arm strength looks below average

That's the truth, with Arod, Goff and even.. . Kaepernick I guess.
I don't know why but Steve Bartkowski was the first to come to mind though

Not successfully; no. System QB Weak Arm (Very weak) Low Release point Footwork an issue, can’t climb the ladder and maintain a good base to throw. Needs more strength in his legs/hips/core. Will have a place in the league but it will not be as a franchise QB. AS
I definitely noticed that.
Thanks for your evaluation
