Am I surprised Clemson is #1? No. Clemson has been dominate and looks the part. I will say that if Baylor is healthy, I truly think they're the best team in the country. Most college football " right thinking " minds, I think would agree with me. Sorry if you disagree with that, but again....not all of us agree.

Here is a very important matter I want to bring up. A lot of people will tell you, oh.... the first poll doesn't matter. um well...sorry bro, you're wrong...... it does matter. Why you say, Boom? Well the committee is telling you what they really think. They are letting you know what matters to them and what doesn't matter to them. So the truth is in their eyes, doesn't matter if it's right or wrong, the truth is what THEY say it is. I have said for many years that perception is reality. Whether perception is true or not.... whats real??? What they say it is.

Let's take a look at how this committee messed up.

Im sorry.... I know some of you are gonna get mad when I say this. But only a dullard would have Alabama in their top 4. The truth is Alabama is not worthy of that #4 ranking. Florida easily should be ranked ahead of Alabama. Why? They lost barely to a good LSU team and was playing without there starting QB. Alabama lost AT HOME I can't stress that enough...losing @ home to Ole Miss and giving up 43 points @ home in the process.

Why does Alabama get a mulligan or a pass all the time? If you are simply looking at facts, facts will show you Florida should be ranked ahead of Alabama. Ole Miss ran it up on bama..... dont give me this nonsense about well, Bama had 5 turnovers and this happened or that happened.....guess what bro!!! that's the game!!! It's what happen, but yet it seems like bama gets a pass for that kind of stuff. It goes back to my point on perception and reality. EsecPN tells you bama is sooooo good, so it becomes reality. Why? Cause people are like sheep. They here you say something so it must be the gospel. Look here is the truth..... Alabama has been bitcch smaked the last 2 years in bowl season when it " really mattered " cause that's how were judged right SEC nation? In bowl season? We have to stop giving these guys a pass.

current teams I think would beat Alabama on a neutral field

    Clemson
    TCU
    Baylor
    LSU
    Notre Dame
    Florida
    Stanford
Memphis  ( dont say they can't ....check facts )
    Oklahoma

TCU being #8 is a joke. Sorry, if you're trying to put fuel in the fire for Gary Patterson..job well done.

Stanford @ #11 is also a joke. This is a good football team.Sorry....don't see it.

Texas A&M even being in this poll is a joke...

    thoughts???? bring it

I'm a big FSU alum and I agree with you on a lot of points. When they showed  Bama at 4 it made me switch the channel. But like you said about "perception" they have a life long "perception" of Bama just being all world and always gets a pass.
I do think this is the best shot yall have had in the last 30 years to win it all, yall  look good this year and just have the team to do it. I will say being ranked #1 ain't easy because it's a target everyone looks at. But yall are deservingly #1 right now. Look forward to this weekend to some good football. BOL partner

I disagree... Bama has #3 ranked SOS and beat A&M and UGA on the road when they were both top 10 teams.. I think the way Bama battled back in that Ole Miss game showed it was because of the TOs that they lost the game, the way Ole Miss folded against UF showed the TOs was not nearly the problem as Ole Miss was just out matched that game.. Tennessee is a better team than what folks are giving them credit for being.. Single digit loses to all their opponents and a very tough SOS also.. I know the SEC gets on people's nerves, but it is the toughest conf to play thru week in and week out.. But a single game on a single day, anyone in the top 25 could beat each other.. Just my opinion..

Anybody with a brain knows those teams weren't top 10 teams...

Tennessee is a Average team...no more no less. They got beat by Oklahoma which I would bet most of SEC nation doesn't respect.

Why? Cause you or EsecPN tells you that?

sorry....I dont think any of your points hold water.

Haha, fair enough.. My wife always tells me I'm brain dead anyway.. Congrats on your Clemson Tigers and wish you guys good luck. Please remember though, it's not our (the fans) fault for any of this.. And it's not the Teams fault.. Please don't take it out on Bama or the fans.. I understand your anger, I really do... But the committee is to blame if there's a finger to be pointed.. We all have opinions, and there all different at times.. But I don't see why we can't all get along and be cool about it..

I have no problem w them slapping TCU because they won on a fluke last play in 1 of their games.  Thus, in comparison to the other unbeatens, it seems fair to put them down on the list.   Not sure of what their policy is on injuries, but Baylor is the team getting screwed in the poll because they easily should be at # 2.    It seems like they must be slapping down Briles for his crybaby crap last yr.  Clemson is the best team I've seen this yr.

While  I still think the top SEC defenses are significantly better than the big 12, the SEC is overrated this yr.   as good as Bamas defense may be, the offenses are marginal.   I've watched several of their games and as of yet they do not belong in top 4.   I have watched all of A M s games and they would have trouble competing in the big 12 this yr.

The Pac 12 has a lot of quality teams but is overrated in terms of the top 4.   Stanford lost to Norwestern and were clearly outplayed and should have lost to Wash st.

I have no problem with Clemson #1.   I WANT them in the playoff, because I want to see how good they really are.

I'm a Buckeyes fan....   they are not top 4 YET.   They will be worthy of it after they run the gauntlet of MSU, Michigan, and (I'm hoping) undefeated Iowa.   Then they can be in.   I'm a hard critic on them...obviously want them in, but separating myself as a fan and trying to be an observer, they aren't up there yet.

Bama...    No way, no how right now.   It really is an embarrassment and shows that this committee is out of touch.

And Notre Dame at #5??   No, no, no...  I'm sorry but that's another travesty.  I just hope that Stanford knocks them off because if they get in over any conference champion with 1 loss or no losses it turns the entire process into a popularity contest.   Might as well go back to the BCS at that point.

This should have debuted next week.   There are too many elimination games this week for any of us to even waste our breath on, but we know that the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network had put those numbers in front the matchups for this week....

I am so tired of the Bama Love year in year out, I agree 100% on the neutral field thumping's they could get by TCU, Stanford, and yes Memphis, With you being a Clemson fan you should be happy because I believe they are the best team in the country and will win it all.   TCU is my other pick to win it all, I think they have one of the best offenses in the country, of course their D is the Achilles heel  here but I think they will get better with much at stake in the coming weeks

Here is the dirty little secret the SEC doesnt want people to know....but, A&M was always a mediocre team in the big 12 every year.

and oh yeah, BTW.... Mizz was too. But yet they have found a way to win the SEC east 2 of the first 3 years they have been in that league.

The bama " dream " never ends in college football it seems... these cats could go 8-4 and EsecPN would be talking about how Bama looks the part and should be in the final 4.

I'm talking in the high pressure win or go home scenario.  The semi-final will be their biggest game in many years....   plus, you may disagree, but I think they could even be made an underdog even if they are the #1 seed, which would be awesome because I'd bet the $hit out of them in that spot.

There is no possible way Alabama has played the #3 SOS. I know ESPN said they did, but none of the computers have them that high. Even uber SEC love Sagarin has them at 9. In terms of real SOS, They are 38th with an opponents record of 30-22. Maryland and Tennessee are actually tied for third with a record of 33-13.

The fact is SOS is completely subjective. It is a joke. Which is why they use them. Without uniform scheduling rules, there is no possible way to compute SOS. When you have an entire conference that plays crap OOC games it screws everything up.

I will start this with admitting that I'm an Alabama fan.Congrats on Clemson being #1 but your team has played how many top 25 teams so far this season and if they win this weekend (which they should) will have no test the rest of the season. Boom say what you want but you are clearly wrong on somethings. So if Clemson played other top 25 teams besides Florida State and they fell out of the top 25 would you still count them as good wins? Florida State will probably fall out with a loss to Clemson this weekend will you still call it a great win over a good team? Tenn. is a good football program. Yes they are 4-4 but that is more on coaching than players. They clearly had Oklahoma and Florida beat late as well as Alabama and gave the games away with coaching decisions. They could easily be undefeated right now just as they are 4-4. Pretty sure the committee doesn't care about what ESPN is telling everyone about the teams and vote how they feel the teams should be ranked. I say that and yes I know that ESPN hosts the playoff show and are the big time player in college football as well as most sports. It really doesn't matter who they put in the first poll. I think they had 3 SEC teams in the first or second Poll last year and we all know how that worked out. They put Bama #4 because of their strength of schedule and they play LSU this weekend. If Bama wins they stay in for now if they lose they drop out and probably won't have another shot at it unless all chaos happens as in 2007 LSU. Yes Alabama lost to Ole Miss at home (still having a hard time believing it after watching what happened) but this Ole Miss team could beat anyone in the country if the right Ole Miss team shows up. Come on man Memphis (check the facts) would get demolished by Alabama and you know it. The other teams would definitely have a shot at beating Bama on a neutral field or at Bama. We will see what happens this weekend and go from there as well as the next. The committee leaves itself a open every week to move teams around as they see fit. Not sure if Bama deserves it or not but it is what it is. If the O-Line can gel then they have a shot if not than they will fall and fall hard. Last if Clemson had 5 turnovers in a game can you honestly tell me they would have a shot to tie the game with 2 minutes left in the game?

I refuse to get upset with the poll knowing it is biased going in

Alabama being in the top 4 is literally a laughing matter but what did you expect?

if Clemson lost at home to Ole Miss they would never see the top 10 again

it is what it is, a trash poll that means nothing right now, I didn't even bother watching it

    The Committee loves the SEC.
They love the Big 10--3 of top ten are from Big Ten.
They hate the Big 12 yet again. Where's Baylor, TCU and unbeaten Okla St? 1 loss Oklahoma? Big 12 is set to be left out again--I think even an unbeaten Big 12.

Last week was the first time TCU put together any kind of defense effort.  I do not disagree with the polls on that one.  The big 12 will shake out this month, Oh Yea.  I think the spring board for this year was when they handed the sooners their butts in the bowl last year gift wrapped by Venerables, who should have never been let go by OU.  Clemson has had Fl. State on their calender all year. Death valley will not be pleasant for the Seminoles.  BOL

Everyone knows I am a huge LSU guy but I really don't see them being higher than #4 at best. Bama has no business being number 4. None. Clemson, TCU, Baylor, LSU. I think 90% of the publicity that people get tired of when hearing about the SEC is due to Alabama and Saban- The media slobs on his knob every chance they get as well as the refs. I really hope LSU peels Bama this weekend- only if Harris plays out of his mind will they do that in my opinion. This LSU and Alabama team is nowhere near the quality of the 2 teams that met in the NC a few years ago. Not even close. I taped the show as I was out but now I might delete it without even watching it. Lots of great matchups left in the season so some of this mess will work itself out.

I  said it here in this forum BEFORE Clemson played ND, that Clemson was the #1 team in the nation. I said that after the Loiuisville game. That was a road game that they dominated defensively. I knew at that moment listening to the Clemson radio broadcast , listening to coaches and players, that this team was special. I think they will get an SEC team in the Final game (assuming an SEC team will be #2, Clemson gets #4), so they could meet up with an LSU or Alabama (or Florida) in the NC.
Of course a Big 12 will have to get in, and if they do, EVERYONE could be potentially upset. I don't think the Committee will allow a Big12 school to get in if they can help it.
