Chipping away at the deficit little by little. Can't believe the Harvard game didn't go over. Needed one point for the last :30ish seconds. Harvard missed three shots. Dartmouth missed 3 consecutive free throws. Bummer.
2* Kent St Golden Flashes -2.5
Kent St owns this series. They have won 10 straight. This may be the year that comes to a close, but I'm betting that happens on 2/17 in Bowling Green. Kent St at home is a different animal. They shoot the ball soooo well regardless, but it seems at home, they step it to another level. They are currently averaging 98 points/game at home. Bowling Greens strength is its defense, but this offense will be too much on this floor.
2* West Virginia Mountaineers -1.5
Both of these teams are coming off games vs top level opponents, that play top level defense. WVU lost by 20 to Iowa St, and wasn't really ever in the game in the second half. Cincy on the other hand, had a lead on Houston in the second half, and let it slip away eventually losing by 7. A lot more emotions were exhausted in the latter game. Add in that Cincy has only played one true road game before tonight, and now have to go into Morgantown, which according to KenPom has the best home court advantage in all of college basketball. This will be a rock fight, but I don't trust Cincy to be able to make open jump shots, let alone well contested ones that WVU will bring tonight. This would be a four unit play if I knew for sure that Brenen Loriant was going to play tonight.
1* Butler Bulldogs +4.5
The Johnnies have a PG problem. The problem being, they don't have a true one. Ian Jackson is a 2, probably more even a 3, and they use him as their primary PG. Their best win is over unranked Baylor, and they just lost at home to unranked Providence. Could that be a motivator? Sure. But Butler has lost their last two, and the last one at home to Nova by 20, so I'd call that a pretty good motivator too. STJ really struggles to finish possessions on defense, coming in at 311th in defensive rebounding percentage. Butler is 16th best on the offensive glass. That, Hinkle being a place where crazy things happen, and a very capable offense, have me on the home dog.
1* Minnesota Golden Gophers +5.5
Williams Arena may not have the atmosphere of a top home court advantage, but the elevated floor, and weird sight lines, seem to give visitors fits. Iowa has only traveled to an oppositions gym two times this year, and they lost both. Now those were Iowa St and Sparty so take that with a grain of salt, but its never easy to win on the road in the Big Ten. Ask Oregon.
