The coaching edge during the game may go to the Volunteers; however, Coach Calipari did his homework in the off season and proved once again that he is one of the best recruiters in the country. The Wildcats may not have as much experience, but what they lack in age they more then make up for in talent. With only 2 losses on the season it’s easy to remember that Tennessee was one of the teams that handed them a defeat and Kentucky will certainly improve on their last performance. It is quite incredible to think that they only lost 65-74 with the Volunteers shooting almost 50% from the field and the Wildcats going an embarrassing 2-22 from behind the arc. Bobby Maze is a great point guard and may make Wall work on the defensive end if he uses his quickness to get into the lane. Although, with all the work he himself will be doing trying to slow down John Wall the last thing on his mind will be the offensive side of his game. As we look to the interior we find two of the elite players in the country in Patterson and Cousins. Chism is very talented on the Tennessee side of the floor; however, he is notorious for getting into early foul trouble. Kentucky can survive foul trouble to one of their big men. Unless Chism plays the majority of this game…and plays well, Tennessee will miss out on their shot for a SEC Title. Unfortunately for the Volunteers, the Wildcats just had their wake up call against Alabama and will be ready for this one. Look for Kentucky to build a lead early and advance to the final.
PICK: Kentucky Wildcats -4.5
