Nropp, On paper I see buffalo as a much better team over miami ohio. Don't you think +2.5 is tricky or a trap? Or maybe its cuz they just beat ohio outright.

I’m looking forward to this game, have a great feeling of whether Boise has overachieved or underachieved to this point from the result of this. I had Loyola Marymount circled as a play at the beginning of this year in this exact spot if everything went according to plan, but everything did not go according to plan as Loyola Marymount is without a starter. I still think the line holds value, but I’m not going to invest in it as much as I had hoped. Both Hamilton (slasher) and Dubais (shooter), I think are replaceable. By losing these two, Loyola gets even lengthier which is what they’ll need to defend Portland’s onslaught of three-point balls as they’re the best three point shooting teams in the country. The key for this game being circled is one of two things. First, this matchup comes immediately after the Gonzaga game, which was Portland’s National Title Game. Second, Loyola limped into this exact gym last year and lost by 40 (were they looking ahead to Gonzaga?). It’s going to be hard for Portland to get up for this one. They also welcome back Ashley Hamilton who has not been playing with a broken hand. Loyola brings back too many players to not remember last year’s failure. It really comes down to one thing. Loyola has under-achieved and I can’t explain it. They’re one of the most athletic teams in the conference, but they haven’t shown it. Had they be showing it, I wouldn’t be getting double digit value. They have to string together a few wins to build some confidence, and against a three-point shooting team who lacks defense, they just need an off night from the opponent to do so. It’s a nice situational spot, it’s a nice defensive and offensive matchup, they just have to control one thing, and that’s the shot from long distance. And you can do that with athleticism, getting out and running, and getting some easy baskets. The best defense against the three-ball is transition offense, and Loyola is equipped to do so. It’s the reason they came back and beat Portland towards the end of the year last year and it’s the style they’ve played coming back from the break except the snail in San Diego. There is a pretty good chance SEMO hits a wall tonight. They’re 4-2 in the conference, but they haven’t played a team that can defend quite like Morehead. Pretty good spot for an under play, but the problem is that SEMO plays ZERO defense. I like Tenny Martin as odd as that sounds, but I’ll wait for the second meeting between these two teams. It was hard to avoid the over here as well with two of the worst defensive teams in the country going at it. I saw no value in the Big Sky with uppers going against lessers. I don’t see anything posted on the Summit, only one I would be interested in is SDST and Western Illinois.

I bet this Buffalo/Miami OH Under at 133.5, but will post the current 130. Little slow typing notes today. Eat. Drink. Avoid Bloodbath.

    Bets
    Loyola Marymount +10.5 (4 Units)
San Jose State/Louisiana Tech Over 137.5 (3 Units)
    Florida International/North Texas Over 148.5 (2 Units)

Loyola MMT beat portland last time they played so don't you think the 40 pt loss was wiped off the plate after that win?

    Buffalo +2.5 (1 Unit)
    Buffalo/Miami OH Under 130 (1 Unit)
Florida Atlantic/Middle Tennessee State Under 136 (1 Unit)

DNP: Loyola Marymount +10.5. Loyola CHI/Wisky GB Over 135

    GL

Loyola MMT beat portland last time they played so don't you think the 40 pt loss was wiped off the plate after that win?

In your league contest you picked:JMU-10 and WCU-.6.5.  If you have the time would you give your views on these match ups

It’s the reason they came back and beat Portland towards the end of the year last year and it’s the style they’ve played coming back from the break except the snail in San Diego. not seeing a single line with 2 points of what you posted. Very difficult for degenerates like myself who like to tail you. love the writeups and the insight but is there any way we could get your picks closer to when you lock them in?

just a suggestion...Thanks again for all you do. Great work!

Buffalo’s nonconference strength of schedule ranks only 273rd in the nation, which doesn’t compare favorably with Miami’s, which is No. 3. I like the home team here and the under, which has been pounded down to 128x.

Two teams are pretty even, just think in a low-scoring game, the advantage points to the inside, and that's where I feel Buffalo has the advantage.

I'm not a big "trap" or "tricky" type of person. I'll play value where I see it.

If I got pummeled by 40 at an opponents gymnasium, and returned there to play the following year, the first thing that would come to mind when I stepped on the floor would be the bad loss. Viney was hurt in that matchup last year as well, so I might have overplayed the importance of the revenge angle and not put enough emphasis on Viney, but there has got to be some sort of motivation for shooting 20% in a building and coming back to it, hopefully.

I couldnt get alot of the same totals so laid off of those games.Loyola looks like a strong play and all they have to do is defend the 3 ball somewhat because PTL loves jacking it up from downtown.Probably on the Buffalo game also.Wish the lines hadn't adjusted so much in the others.GL!

Weird scheduling conflicts with Georgia State with flight delays and taking the much better offense (JMU) with revenge from a one-point buzzer beater earlier in the year, a game in which they probably should have won, despite shooting 30% from the floor. GSU bad on road, and add in the extras, seems like a flat spot.

As for WCU, their offense is peaking and they play one of those teams in Elon who plays a team defense focused on being in the right spot rather than taking risks. Defense doesn't work against good shooting teams. Didn't really like the fact that WCU has Appy State on deck, but it is what it is.

I think just the opposite. I think they could be saying to themselves, "We got the livin hell whipped out of us in this place last year. I hope it doesn't happen again...." Like the other poster said, LMU got revenge the last time they played, so that takes that angle away IMO..... nropp, don't think I'm being negative towards you. U are one of my favorite cappers here. But I think this game has the potential for a Portland blowout, especially if they are the ones pissed about losing their last game.... GL though

Not sure what I can do different. On a side note, the line moves really mean nothing to me. If I had time, I'd go back and check, but I can't remember more than an instance or two when the line moves even mattered. I can't say that this will continue to happen (lines generally get tougher after the first of year when football is over), but it is what it is. Something fun for me, I'd like to keep it that way.

Maybe post the plays before you do the writeup? Then those people who are blindly tailing could lock them in with a better line and then read the writeups when you are finished.  Just a suggestion.

I also saw your contest picks, if you have time can you elaborate on why u like NCGreen/Appst over, E.KY +2, and UCSB -10?

Thank you so much for all your work

You make a good point. I don't put an emphasis on SOS too much when into conference play b/c the teams more than likely know each other from head to toe regardless. Miami OH having a strength of schedule at #3 in the country is borderline insane.

Georgetown's at #5 SOS. I can understand that, they play in a tough conference. Miami OH plays in the MAC, they'd be just fine playing a few uppers, rather than going Duke, San Diego State, Ohio State, Xavier, Dayton, Wright State, Cincy, and Kansas. Could work against them at some point.

After all, look what's happened to some of the teams with a strong SOS:

    Michigan State, far from impressive
    Cal, 1-2 in conference
Georgetown, 3 straight losses, 1-4 in Big East
    Tennessee, playing awful

That's just four of them. Having a strong schedule helps you down the road in terms of different styles you will be playing, but it doesn't always help you out when you get started in conference play. If anything, it's draining.

I could be wrong, maybe it helps them. I just don't see the bearing it places on the matchup.

Your going to need Idaho State to stop at a gas station on their way to Colorado and purchase some offense and some redbull. I'm far away from Idaho State probably all year. Just not impressed. Northern Colorado's offense should be able to help it go over if that's the way your're leaning.

Murray State's easily my biggest underachiever of the year. They have time to put it all together, but they have looked awful. Definitely the better team, both offensively and defensively. No clue how they respond to the Peay loss.
