UNT +3 (-110) in Conference USA game vs. La. Tech

 UNT (15-16) and La Tech (16-15) are very similar in talent this year and to say this was a down year for La. Tech would be a significant understatement.  What is surprising is the even though N. Texas lost their only meeting with La. Tech, the Mean Green have a better conference record at (8-10) vs. La. Tech (7-11).

 La. Tech had a dismal record on the road this year at 2-10 and they are a team that also does not travel well outside their conference with a 3-7 ATS record in neutral site games.

 This game will be played in a new venue named the Star in Frisco, TX about 20 minutes from the North Texas campus and the only team in the tournament that really has had a chance to practice and get familiar with this court is North Texas and I think this could be a significant advantage, as well as, they should have great fan support for this game with busloads of students driving the short distance.

 In their only meeting this year La. Tech won by 1 point at home (66-65).  UNT significantly outrebound La. Tech and they shot about the same FG% and UNT made 2 more 3’s.  The difference in the game is that La. Tech attempted a lot more FT’s and scored 7 more points from the line.

 I think UNT takes advantage of the location of this year’s tournament and a weak La. Tech team and gets the straight-up win.

South Carolina -3 (-110)

 This game is pretty easy to figure out where the value is and it is definitely with the Gamecocks.

 With South Carolina you get a team that has won 3 of their last 5 games including a victory over top ranked Auburn.

 With Mississippi you get a team that has lost 3 straight and 9 of their last 10 games and most of them by double digits.

 South Carolina also has the revenge angle workng for them as they lost at Mississippi this year in their only meeting (69-74).  I am sure they were not happy about the shaft they got by the Refs and that Ole Miss scored 9 more points from the FT Line and were given 33 attempts.  This was more than the difference in the game.

Ole Miss is 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games and they are only 1-10 on the road this year.

In losing 9 of their last 10 games, Ole Miss has also lost a lot of these games by double digits.  This team may have pretty much quit for the year, while S. Carolina has kept both of their last 3 losses close and competitive.

I think there is considerable value in South Carolina -3 in this situation, so I am on it.
