$$$$ Pick : UNC -2 (-110)

UNC's strengths can exploit Nova's weaknesses more directly than Nova's strengths can play to UNC's weaknesses.

UNC STRENGTH: SIZE - UNC has multiple athletic bigs and has dominated the paint all tournament, most recently with 50 points in the paint Saturday. They've very clearly noticed that they cannot depend on their 3-pt shooting (which is absymal going 0-10 at one point vs Cuse) and have focused on the paint and offensive rebounds. Daniel Ochefu is visibly playing through injury and Nova doesn't have another big athletic enough to match up. Nova gets their offensive rebounds by crashing the paint, it will be a lot tougher against UNC.

NOVA STRENGTH: PERIMETER D - Novas has held 3 of their last 4 opponents to under 30% from beyond the arc while shooting over 50% from beyond in 3 of 4 (in two they shot above 60%). UNC has shot below 31% from beyond in 3 of their last four games, winning by an average margin of 16.3 points.

NOVA STRENGTH/UNC WEAKNESS: TURNOVERS - in 3 of their last 4, Nova has forced well over 10 turnovers per game. This is where I hesitate with UNC because during the season they went through a slump where they tried to force jump shooting and aggressive handling from their guards and lost a few games to turnovers. However in 3 of their last 4, UNC committed less than 10 turnovers and I believe this is directly due to them forcing the issue of scoring in the paint. It is also important to note that Nova is very methodical with controlling the pace of the game which effects their transition offense and points off turnovers (recently they've been good though). I believe UNC's great transition play will take advantage of Nova's turnovers at a more efficient clip, neutralizing the points off turnovers advantage that Nova statistically has.

Other Factors
Nova's above 60% rate from the 3 is simply unsustainable, even GS mean reverts, look at the game against the celtics. UNC's bench has gotten a lot deeper over the season and I believe they have more depth than Nova at this point. I mentioned Daniel Ochefu's injury earlier, but it's important to bring up again, Brice Johnson should have a solid game in the soft spot of Nova's zone, shooting over 6'3" guards if Ochefu is on the bench. Joel Berry II is also playing great defense with a lot of hustle. I also give the coaching edge to Roy Willaims at UNC.

Final Word: I fully expect Brice Johnson to take over the game, Nova plays great team basketball, but so does UNC, and Brice Johnson shines brighter than Hart, Jenkins or and injured Ochefu.

UNC -2 $$$$ (4-3 overall $$$$ record)

I don't post a ton of $$$$ plays. When I do, it tends to be teams that I follow closely like the Charlotte Hornets or ACC basketball. Let's be honest, both of these teams are very good, so I expect to see an even split of sides on this game tonight.

However, when I look at Carolina play the game looks so easy for them in the paint. 11 minutes in to the Syracuse game when Carolina trailed by 2 points, I told a friend that Carolina would win the game by 20 and not worry about the 9.5 point spread. Carolina was getting easy shots and Syracuse was taking tough shots that needed three bounces off of the rim before falling.

I do respect Villanova more than ever before, but I find it highly unlikely that they will be able to deal with Johnson and Meeks and company inside on the defensive boards. UNC has beaten teams game in and game out on the OFFENSIVE BOARDS and once the Carolina big men get that rebound, they score with ease. They are phenomenal at following up missed shots. Further the UNC guards, while not noteworthy 3 point shooters, are excellent drivers to the hoop. They finish or dish very well....or miss and let the big men go to work on the glass.

I just don't think Villanova has seen this type of dominant rebounding in the Big East. Ask yourself this question. If Villanova played in the ACC what would their record have been? No way they go 16-2 in the ACC. They are up against the beasts of the boards tonight. That's where they will lose.

Opening day has been money for Felix Hernandez backers over the years 7-0 in nine starts and owned Texas last year 5-0 with a 1.83 ERA. I really like Seattle to rebound and have a strong year. Six players on the Mariners roster have hit better than 300 against Hamels over his career. Hernandez has owned the power hitters of Texas and I believe nothing will change today. This line is a gift that only comes around sparingly. Jump on it!

Made an average bet on Toronto plus 45 cents to start with.  Montoya vs Bernier.  Last time at home Bernier got hit hard by Florida.  When he was hit he had previously played 2 great  games on the 13th and 15th and then faced them on the 17th.  Here he has rested 5 days and won 4 of his last 6 starts.  Montoya is 1-3 lifetime vs Toronto although he has not played badly vs them.  45 cents with a hot rested goalie seems worth a bet.

Been a while since last place 4-2 so far

$$$$ New York Rangers Regulation$$$$


I have literally watched the last 3 Ranger games and they have all ended in loses. This team is currently going through some stuff and there just playing the motions as i guess they only care about the post season. So there really hoping this season ends quick! 

but to that after them losing to both Carolina and Buffalo in there last 2 games and now heading to Columbus I just think this losing streak ends today! There a much better team then Columbus offensively and defensively.
The Rangers have lost 8 of there last 13 games and with a win tonight Rangers can officially clinch a playoff spot. 

The Rangers are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Columbus and 6-0 in the last 6 meetings overall.

The Blue Jackets are just waiting for the regular season to come to an end, while the Rangers are trying to build some momtuem heading into the postseason.

It is fair to say that the Rangers somehow lost scoring touch and have not been able to produce good results recently, very poor efforts defensively as there last 6 games have all hit or went over 5 goals. The team simply dropped to many points in very important stage in the season. Besides, the Rangers rank fifth in the Eastern Conference and the team needs three points on second Pittsburgh. To mention, there are only four games remaining in the season. Time for the Rangers to wake up tonight and finish the season strong!

The OU is attractive. 11-3 last 14 OU bets NCAA.  Both teams can light it up- Nova from deep  NC under hoop. J wright says they have to slow down pace and poss in their favor. good on paper.  I see Nova at one point getting in track meet if just for 3-5 min each half- as they will want to push a run or show NC they can run and score with them-  which will be enough to push the score total over. NC turned it over 12  vs Cuse- Cuse missed shots. Nova d strong- going to make more shots at higher % - capitalizing-   NC gets  easy baskets as usual,push pace which Nova should put up 75 min. Game low 80s. 83-79.  I also see OT as possibility. won big NC /NOVA as favs Sat but here see public dog Nova and Over as the pick $$$$.

Sorry format all messed up on last post.  OVER $$ tonight.  Nova plans to slow possessions down- but they will run and show NC they can score in bunches and RUN 3-4 MIN each half just enough to score MIN 75.  NC going to score 75 pushing their pace-

I have to give credit to NOVA all tournament long, they continue to win. Tonight their run stops. Why? There are a few reasons that stand out to me: Points in the paint, Ochefu, and their shooting percentage. I know it has been stated prior to my post but there is no way Nova can sustain that shooting percentage. Both UNC and NOVA are playing great team basketball but don't get it twisted, UNC is the better team, but just because they are the better team does not mean they will win. Tonight expect UNC to get the ball into the paint and challenge Ochefu directly. If Ochefu gets into foul trouble it will probably mean the end for NOVA. Best of luck

Alright everyone...this one looks almost too good to be true! I've reviewed all of the stats and it seems that AT THE VERY LEAST...you will push at 5 but the probability is going over easy!
  • Florida has not totaled under 5 goals in the past 16 games
  • Florida is averaging 6.1 totals per game in the last 20 games
  • Florida is averaging 3.2 goals per game in the last 20 games (3.3 in last 10)
  • Over is 8-0-5 in Panthers last 13 games playing on 1 days rest.
  • Over is 10-1-3 in Panthers last 14 vs. Atlantic.
  • Toronto is averaging 5.05 totals per game in the last 20 games
  • Toronto is allowing 2.7 goals per game in the last 20 games (2.8 in last 10)
  • In their last 10 H2H games, they've never went under 5 total goals per game. The average score is 6.3 total goals
They may start off slow but I expect this game to cover easily.

Talk about a bad beat Texas gets 1 hit all game 3 walks two errors and win 3-2  over Hernandez, Ya right lol

Leaning on taking the White Sox tonight.  Chris Sale can always hold his own but the run support is questionable.  Sonny Gray was scratched due to food poisoning and Rich Hill will be taking the mound in his place.  Any thoughts out there on this one?

The final count down eh?

While some of you guys are playing the sides and talking smack to one another, I am going to play my total.

I am trying to align it with the stars. 

Villanova Wildcats  20-17-1 O/U
North Carolina Tar Heels 21-18 O/U

all season long, these two teams are playing more on the over scale. 

Villa all of a sudden be putting on a clinic and shooting lights out.  70%+ fg and only missed 5 shots in the 2H against okc ?

On the flip side, unc is one of the worst 3 points team in the nation.  They missed 11 straight 3 balls against the stingy defense of cruze but they still got the job done with 80+ points. 

In this game here, I am expecting for a fast pace game and although I am betting against nova to put up a clinic again (no way 70%+ fg shooting), I think they will come down to earth in this game here.   Fast pace yes but they still need to make their shots for the over to cash.  field goal percentage is highly important for my ticket to cash here. 

Last one for the season so I'm  am saving all of my $$$$ ball for this one here.

Villanova is:
  • 6-1 Over last 7 vs. ACC.
  • 10-2 Over last 12 following a SU win.
  • 11-3 Over last 14 games.

North Carolina is:

I am also on unc too.  They got more experiences and the coach of nova had an interview where he said that the big men of unc is a factor to him.

  • 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. Atlantic Coast

North Carolina is:

  • 16-5-1 ATS last 22 at neutral site games.
  • 4-0 ATS in their last 4 NCAA Tournament games
