A heavyweight title instant classic gets a second helping on Saturday when Deontay Wilder defends his WBC championship against Luis Ortiz in a rematch of their 2018 tilt.

Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KOs), who avoided disaster by surviving a wild Round 7 in their first meeting before rallying to finish Ortiz (31-1, 26 KOs), will also be looking to protect a scheduled February 2020 rematch with unbeaten lineal champion Tyson Fury that is already signed.

Ortiz, 40, has significantly overhauled his conditioning for the rematch as a means to fix the mistakes he made in their first meeting as he looks to become the first Cuban heavyweight champion.

Wilder weighed in at 219.5 pounds and Ortiz came in at a ripped 236.5. Ortiz, 40, looks to become the second oldest fighter to win a heavyweight title after 45-year-old George Foreman.

A very, very slow walk to the ring from Wilder. You can barely see his eyes due to the elaborate mask he's wearing. He pauses on the ring apron to raise both hands before stepping over the top rope.

R1: Ortiz is cut above his right eye and blood is trickling down the side of his face.

R2: The pace remains very slow as Wilder slips in two jabs. Overhand left scores for Ortiz and he follows up to the body. Wilder needs to be careful as he is allowing Ortiz to paw and back him up to the ropes before firing.

R2: Another uneventful round but give it to Ortiz as he landed the bigger shots to offset Wilder's jab. 10-9, Ortiz

R3: Ortiz hits a pair of body shots late. Good boxing from the Cuban challenger. 10-9, Ortiz.

I've got it 3-0 for Ortiz early on. Good piece of boxing and great defense from the challenger. This isn't too different up to this point from their first meeting in 2018 when Ortiz controlled the fight early as the better boxer.

R4: Another round for Ortiz by outboxing the champion, 10-9.

R5: Wilder slips in a right hand as Ortiz tries to get his legs back. Three-punch combo from Ortiz late. Give him the round despite being buzzed by a jab late, 10-9 for Ortiz.

R6: Good defense from Wilder to cover up and block a three-punch attempt. They trade punches late. Another round in which the aggressor Ortiz did just enough boxing to win, 10-9.
