Floyd Sr was out basically out of his son’s life when Floyd Jr was around 13 and then when Jr was 16 his father was sent to prison. When children get left by a parent, especially teenage boys just maturing, is a devastating experience. It's always difficult at any age, but when you are around 13 and are use to stability and a male role model it has lasting effects. There are dead beat dads that leave before the child is 5, and although it's a heavy burden for the other parent or whoever is now in custody, they can usually unite again because the child was use to the father being gone all along.
We all know Jr is one of the biggest mouths in boxing (self-proclaimed greatest ever), but Sr is just as bad. So when Jr makes a comment at camp and Sr feels challenged he often antagonizes Jr into a verbal war and the years of built up animosity come out in Jr. His father after the Oscar fight said Oscar won decisively, and I don't think anyone saw it like that, so it had to be a sucker shot at Jr. The drama and resentment towards each other is so high that if they had a thumb wrestling match (or anything meaningless but to have fun), the loser will accuse the other of cheating while the winner takes cheap shots saying he is better at everything, and if no one is around to stop it those two would go at each other until one was unconscious or not breathing. In private with out the possibility of being embarrassed things won't get as heated as when people are around. Roger Mayweather (Floyd Sr's brother) has been training Jr for his career and that is the key factor that bothers Floyd Senior. The other day Floyd Sr stated "To tell you the truth, his uncle Roger never taught him s**t! He learned everything from his daddy; I trained him when he was a little kid, when he won his first national tournament."
What kind of father actually offers to train his son's opponent (I do realize Mayweather Sr trained Oscar in 2001 and so)?
Floyd Sr wanted to train Oscar for 2 million but was denied and Roach got the job.
Sorry for the child psychoanalysis and doesn't compare to HBO's 24/7 Mayweather-Ortiz which I would tell the public to watch the Mayweather drama. Most reality shows are fake or hyped for television, but the Mayweather father and son drama is the real deal. Hypothetically, the possibility that the ongoing feud is fake, they should sweep the Emmy awards and teach seminars to the WWE. For those new to the Mayweather's feud, I hope you enjoy real reality television.

Get real idiot. Did you not hear about what Ortiz went through with his dad? He's even taken the "Ortiz" name tattoo off his back because of that. Is Ortiz now an "f'n idiot" too?
