Where do I start!

I have been fowling Paulie since he won the 98’ and 01’ New York Golden Gloves. I went to his first fight when he knocked out Thadeus Parker in the first round! Paulie was a rising star for Brooklyn boxing, the kid has speed and power!

I will never forget June 10, 2006 when Paulie faced Miguel Cotto ion Madison Square Garden for the WBO light welterweight title. The crowd was electric and a mostly PR crowd due to the fact that the fight was held the night before the NYC PR day parade. Paulie went head to head with Cotto and lost in a 12 round contest in a unanimous decision. I still feel is Paulie wasn’t hit by a Cotto head-butt in the opening rounds Paulie would have given a better performance.  Paulie was left with a broken right cheek bone, a bleeding nose and a cut around his left eye.

On June 16, 2007, Malignaggi defeated Lovemore N’dou via a 12 decision to win the IBF world Junior Welter championship. The bout was one sided with one judge awarding the bout a 120-106.

** Something people overlook - On February 4 2007 in Sydney, Ndou fought in the Australian Fight of the Year and defeated Naoufel Ben Rabah in an IBF World Light Welterweight Title Eliminator for the right to meet current title holder Ricky Hatton, after Hatton had won the title against Juan Urango in Las Vegas, USA two weeks earlier. Hatton however refused the IBF's demand that he fight Ndou for the IBF World Light Welterweight Title, instead scheduling a fight against Jose Luis Castillo. Following Hatton's decision, the IBF stripped Hatton of the IBF World Light Welterweight Title, awarding Ndou the title on February 12 2007. Ndou lost his first title defense on June 16 2007 against American Paul Malignaggi in Uncasville, Connecticut, USA.

 But wait, let’s look at Paulies past. Malignaggi was born in Brooklyn, New York, but moved to Syracuse, Sicily in Italy, and then to Palazzolo Acreide, Sicliy when he was a few months old and lived there until he was six years of age.  Where in Brooklyn does Paulie live? -Bensonhurst, Brooklyn aka Little Sicliy. Bensonhurst for those of you who do not know is the Sicilian Mob capital of the USA. Not fishy enough for you? Okay it gets better.

Paulie fights for, whom else but the famous - Louis John DiBella, Jr. (b. 17 May 1960 in Brooklyn, New York) is a boxing promoter and television/film producer. Among his past and present boxers are Jermain Taylor and Bernard Hopkins, both former middleweight world champions, the former of whom was dethroned by the new and current middleweight world champion Kelly Pavlik, also part of DiBella Entertainment is

Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn today unleashed a sweeping 80-count indictment against more than 50 Gambino mobsters — including the entire leadership of the crime family — charging them with seven murders and widespread extortion conspiracies within New York City's construction industry

The indictment names Gambino acting boss John "Jackie Nose" D'Amico, underboss Domenico "Italian Dom" Cefalu, consigliere Joseph "Jo Jo" Corozzo, capo Nicholas "Little Nick" Corozzo, the late "Dapper Don" John Gotti's brother, Vincent, and his nephew, Richard Gotti Jr.

It also includes three Gambino captains, three acting captains, 16 soldiers, numerous associates and a handful of Bonanno and Genovese crime family members. In all, 62 mobsters have been charged.

D'Amico surrendered this afternoon, hours after dozens of his cohorts were rounded up in early-morning raids.

But Nicholas Corozzo was not at his Long Island home when agents showed up yesterday to bust him, sources said.

"I can't think of a larger single-day roundup of substantial [Mafia] figures. I just can't think of a day that had this many arrests. Probably none in the last 10 years," said a law enforcement source.

"It dismantles the infrastructure of the family. You can't say it's the death knell because you don't know. It will still exist, to the point where it becomes increasingly difficult for the family to operate as it has in the past."

The arrests coincided with a massive takedown in Palermo, Sicily, where two dozen high-ranking Italian members of the Gambino family were arrested.

Longtime Gambino soldier Charles Carneglia was charged with five murders, including the 1976 slaying of Brooklyn court officer Albert Gelb, who was set to testify about having wrested a firearm away from the mobster in a Queens diner. Carneglia also is charged with the 1990 fatal shooting of armored car guard Jose Delgado Rivera.

He's also charged in the death of three gangsters: Gambino mobster Michael Cotillo in 1977 and Salvatore Puma in 1983, as well as family soldier Louis DiBono in 1990.

DiBono's killing, later revealed on secret wiretap tapes of Gotti Sr., was committed because he failed to show up at a meeting with the Dapper Don when so order.

Nicholas Corozzo, who was once the family's heir apparent, is charged with the January 1996 double murder of Brooklyn drug dealer Robert Arena and his friend Thomas Maranga.

Corrozzo and 25 other mobsters are also charged in a separate indictment out of the Queens District Attorney's office that accused them of running a huge illegal sports betting operation.

Gambino family soldiers Vincent and Richard Gotti are charged with the attempted murder of an unnamed person.

The indictment also charges the family with having tight control over several construction projects in the New York area, including the proposed Nascar racing track on Staten Island — a project opposed by residents that never saw the light of day — and the Liberty View Harbor construction site in Jersey City, NJ.

"Today we serve notice that anyone who aspired to a position in organized crime will meet the same fate. We will not rest until we rid our communities and businesses of the scourge of organized crime," said Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Benton Campbell.

Campbell, Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, Queens DA Richard Brown, and Deputy FBI Director Mark Mershon led a press conference in the U.S. Attorney's office this morning to announce the arrests.

So Paulie is still the IBF Champ? NOPE!

By Dave Lar: In a bit of bad news for Ricky Hatton, IBF light welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi reportedly vacated the title rather than agreeing to face his number one mandatory challenger Herman Ngoudjo. Apparently, Ngoudjo was willing to wait until Malignaggi fought Hatton in November, but wanted to be guaranteed a fight against the winner. However, it appears that no guarantees were given to him, which forced Malignaggi to give up the belt. The belt will now be fought over between Juan Urango (20-1-1, 16 KOs) and Ngoudjo.

Is Paulie’s hand a problem? Yes

You bet your ass it is! The “magic man” has no power. He broke his hand vs. Cotto, in his amateur career and his last fight!

** But here is the inside info – Pauli broke his hand as a little boy in Sicliy, he feel of his bike. Since a child the hand never healed properly!

Okay so what do we have here?

Smart money is on Hatton! Paulie is looking for his last payout. He is already in Gleason’s Gyms Hall of Fame, a gym you can frequently find him showboating in! FYI Paulie no longer trains in Gleasons his trains in Florida – Why? To stay away from his buddies!

Paulie has the form, the speed but doesn’t have the power and most importantly he doesn’t have his NYC Sicilian associates and Atlantic City boxing commission friends to help him!

Paulies last fight was in Manchester. Why is that important? Paulie can’t fill arena himself. He need sthose Hatton supporters!

Paulie will lose this fight and ride of into the sunset as a Brooklyn hero! This fight will be his meal ticket!

What makes you think Paulie has a shot? One was the last time he knocked someone out? Something you have to keep in mind is Paulies hand – his last fight he re-aggravated the problem.

The boxing gods want a Hatton and Floyd re-match, maybe even Oscar.

Why would Paulie drop his belt? This is Paulie’s meal ticket. I don’t blame him. If his previous fights weren’t on the east coast or under Hattons card, he would of loss!

Take it from a kid who has seen 100 times. Paulie will lose this fight.

NJDEVILS & LRM 704 we are discussing the fight and a gamblers point of view of where to lay the cash. Paulie is a great guy; there is no way anyone can take that away from him. LRM704 you live a mile away but I live down the block from Paulie. After the Cotto fight I was there at the 18^th Ave. feast watching Paulie get arrested for fighting three (3) undercover cops: an arrest that was clearly not his fault! I was a huge supporter for Paulie and still am!

I am not trying to “hate” on Paulie but you have to realize the facts. Paulie has an incredible boxing skill and knowledge. Paulie will open his own boxing school!

Do I want to see Paulie win this fight? – Yes, of course who in Brooklyn doesn’t!!!!

To say Paulie has a legit chance to win this fight is hard to say. Paulie is looking for a pay-out and he deserves it. Why would Paulie give up his belt? Why would Paulie fight on Hattons under card? Paulie can’t sell tickets; boxing just isn’t that big anymore with the UFC rise. The Las Vegas crowd will be a Hatton crowd!

Listen if you want to root for Paulie that’s fine. My job is to make money. Smart money & my money are on Hatton.

Again, I hope this changes your views on me being a Paulie “hater” or a racist lol.

Grow up. Stop being a baby!! I am not looking for credit, even tho I told you exactly how this fight was going to end up.

Paulie’s right hand was a major issue. As stated by the announcers: “Paulie’s right hand is a brittle as an un-cooked piece of spaghetti”. How Paulie got to the top of his weight class was also questionable, but again as I stated his promoters and investors played a huge role on his rise. Why is it wuestionable that Paulie got to the top????? –How does a fighter with no- knockout power make it to the top? Who has Paulie beat?

In the first round Paulie was sticking Hatton with his jab and was extremely effective with his boxing speed and footwork. For some reason after the first round Paulie became un-aggressive and was all about throwing one (1) jab then grabbing Hatton.

Okay with all that said. Paulie did not deserve to have the towel thrown in. Paulie was getting destroyed by Cotto and his corner refused to throw in the towel.

I hope this teaches you guys a lesson. If you wanted to root for Paulie, that’s fine. I would have loved to see Paulie win the fight, but lets get serious. I am a real sports fan and I consider myself a smart bettor. I never bet with my heart!!!!!!!!! I try not to bet on my favorite teams because most of the times your emotions for that team blurs your vision.
