Dont miss this one.  2 world class operators here.

I love Lara.  He's a great fighter and I wont be surprised at all if he outboxes Canelo.

However, he's not getting a decision here.  His style is not judge friendly.  He got absolutely robbed against Paul Williams.  He beat Molina but got a BS draw verdict.  He beat Martirosyan but got shafted with another draw.

Considering those results how can you expect him to get a decision against a top 3 cash cow in the sport?  With a Cotto-Canelo mega-purse fight on deck, thats not likely to be derailed by the judges unless Lara absolutely dominates, and he wont beat Canelo as clearly as he will need to get a decision.

Lara may win the fight.  He wont get the decision.

I agree with your overall assessment but I think Lara will make Canelo look even worse than he did in the Mayweather fight. 1 judge is automatically in the bag for Canelo. They probably got that judge smoking the same stuff CJ Ross was smoking. Lara is longer than Mayweather with more lateral movement plus he's a southpaw. I like the "Lara or draw" prop at +165

I scored the Canelo - Trout fight 6 rounds to 6 with the knockdown being the edge for Canelo. Lara is faster and smarter than Trout with a much better trainer. I'm just worried Lara's overuse of his legs will make him look like a runner in the judges eyes.

I hate to admit it because I'm a big Canelo fan but he's got heavy feet and bad stamina. Canelo is tailor made for Lara.

so you are going to admittingly bet on the inferior fighter? against the fighter that you think has the better skillset in hopes of winning your bet with a robbery?

i agree that lara will may get robbed but what if erislandry is just that much superior than canelo(ie rigo/donaire) which i think is a possiblilty?

i never bet on the lesser fighter in hopes of getting the robbery nor do i bet against the house fighter although i am seriously considering an exception here at +200

also, lara as well as all future canelo opponents, are going to go full out until the 12th round knowing about the robbery potential even more so with lara who was already robbed against pw and could make a case of being robbed against vanes

I don't think about stuff like this when I'm handicapping a fight but I'm not so sure that potential corruption will favor Canelo anyway.  Lara is with Haymon and Haymon's got the juice.

I know he's got Haymon but there's no money behind Lara. No one cares about him. He has no following. Canelo has a country on his back. He's the cash cow.

In boxing the A side is always a must to be considered. How can you possibly not consider it? Why do you think Canelo is a more than 2-1 favorite? I can assure you it's not because he's twice as good a fighter.

I understand liking an underdog with value like Lara. But m not over thinking this one. Alvarez is the play.

    LRM,

I don't see a stoppage here. These world class guys are tough to crack.

It was 22-0 coming into Saturday night so I guess now it's 27-0 (including the Kameda fight on SHO before the PPV started).

The next SHO card is that Garcia/Peterson/Jacobs abortion, so I guess it'll be 30-0 soon enough.  ("No way!  Salka gonna whoop Garcia's behind!" - JerseyBoy I'm sure)

Breland was knocked down once in the 3rd. The end came from a rare right to the head, thrown by Davis, almost out of desperation, who was suffering from bad swelling below his right eye, approximately the size of a golf ball. Davis also suffered a cut over his right eye and bled from the mouth, while Breland bled from the nose a lot, as well as from the mouth toward the end. Davis roughhoused Breland throughout, throwing him to the canvas at least four times.
