I am absolutely pumped for this fight...this was one of those fights that I thought would never happen like Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.

I think it will take a couple rounds for Jr. to get use to Martinez speed/rhythm. I see Chavez willing to take a few punches to get one. I think Martinez has slightly slipped and that is why Chavez team was willing to take this.

Martinez has really good stamina because he chooses when he wants to jump in and out and fight..kind of like an ambush style. I think Chavez will work the body as much as he can early on. Martinez tends to have his hands low and he is a southpaw. I think his kidney will be open for Chavez body attack. I can really see this being a close fight but with Jr actually closing stronger.

I wouldn't be surprised if Martinez is the one that is more tired from moving around so much and from the body attack of Chavez Jr. I think Chavez has the chin to withstand Martinez attack.

I like Chavez to win this one.

Chavez looked like a skeleton at the weigh in....and HBO in typical "HBO" fashion made it sound like the 158 lbs was a result of hard work and taking off weight the "right" way.....sorry guys that dude was drained. I don't care if  he comes to the ring at 185 tomorrow night, he's in serious trouble.

I agree 100% with Chavez looking drained. He looked sick really. Martinez looked natural full of pep. He will stop Chavez middle to late rounds. Chavez never got hit like he's going to hit tomorrow.

Martinez looked absolutely possessed at the weigh in. I was ready to walk downstairs to the book and drop a dime on Chavez, now not so sure.

    why?

because it is one, huge, whole inexplicable 16 ounces less than what he weighed against andy lee when he went "incredible hulk" on the manny steward fighter?

im fairly positive that ariza, freddie and especially chavez sr. know a lot more about jr's body than anyone here posting on the covers boxing forum.

if you liked jr. before then there is no reason to like him any less becuase of 159 to 158.

that has absolutely nothing to do with anything. any knowledeable boxing person will tell you that what sergio did was actually negative as he is getting worked up prior to the fight.

you want ot conserve energy right now, not expend it.

the weight of 158 lbs is one thing, what he looks like at that weight is another....my point was, he didn't look properly conditioned for the weight.....but what do i know, i merely post on cover just like you.

agreed. but what you have to realize is that if ariza, freddie and sr. wanted jr. to weigh-in at 159-160 all jr. wouldve had to do is not take a shit or drink water.

freddie is a master at playing these fucking mind games(145 cotto was his best ever). showing jr sleeping in late, taking days off from training and looking weak in camp is a joke, especially with sr. there in LA. jr. successfully weighed-in at the 30 day cut-off and again at the seven day so a bad cut is almost entirely out of the question here.

    158...freddie and his mind games.

I don't think he was drained. I've seen him looking worse. I really do think he's been training hard despite what we've seen on 24/7. He has pretty much looked pretty lean since the show started. I don't think he had as bad of a cut as he has had in the past.

and he still did decent vs Martinez. That's my point Chavez should give Martinez a run for his money.

imo, kp was ahead on the cards up until the ninth round cut.

good to see someone else here not making a big deal about one pound.

I wrote on another post something similar to what you wrote here,   but after watching all video footage of these two together in interviews and the weigh in over the last couple of months I will not bet this one, your mental state is huge going into a fight and to me martinez is the alpha dog here and chavez seems a little intimidated based on his body language. (although he is never an intimidating guy) I will no longer place any of my money on this one, instead I will place it on KENTUCKY-7 vs western kentucky,( with the wildcats being at home) this will either be a blowout for martinez or a late round rally decision win for chavez.  I think we will be right in the end, but not as right as kentucky-7 at home

    congrats to Martinez backers.

Chavez should have started earlier and pushed up against Martinez and use his weight more.

    Martinez fought a great fight.

This is what would have happened If Julio never finished off Meldrick...but now he has the whole undefeated thing off his back and the kid is so big their could be some profits yet to come.
