Israel Vazquez vs Rafael Marquez III

 -Analysis-

Marquez is the more calculating fighter. He can win on decision, TKO, or KO. Vazquez has the stamina to throw power punches for twelve rounds, but at what cost will it take. Both previous fights were physical and brutal. Marquez being the better ring technician made some fatal errors in the 2nd fight, costing him the fight. Marquez will fight a similar fight but with more jabbing and moving during critical phases of the fight. Vazquez will have to either catch Marquez early or keep a fast pace at such that it will give him an opportunity to control the late rounds hoping the Marquez fades.

 

 

As I stated Marquez jabbed and moved more. Also, he did fade as I stated the Vazquez corner was hoping. As far as the late knockdown, it was one. The issue was the low blow, which makes this fight a draw. Marquez +140 was a good value bet although it turned out to be a loss. The fight went as predicted, and in any fight that can be so close, taking the odds at +140 is going to show a long term profit.
