What do you think? A spinning back fist in boxing? It my bring back some of the lost viewers who left to MMA. Don't get me wrong I love boxing the way it is, but something fresh and new will bring back the talk and notice which boxing deserves.

mma is not even close to boxing , if mayweather and pacquiao fight they are going to get 50 million each, the top mma guys get around 3-400,000 per fight, right now it's like comparing rugby to the NFL, not even close, they are 2 different sports, the topic of boxing vs mma should not even come up, when I talk about nebraska football, the guy next to me does not start talking to me about rugby, spinning back hand in boxing, that's what muay thai is for. boxing is not loosing any fans to mma, mma is just getting a lot of teens and young adults to take an interest, if you were a boxing fan before mma went main stream, then your still and boxing fan,

Nobody wants to comment because its a stupid question. Boxing never lost anyone to MMA. MMA has all the beer drinking hillbillies that watch Nascar. Don't believe the hype. How many boxers have jumped to MMA to take a 900% pay cut? I've been to a live UFC show and it was so boring I left to hit a bar down the street.
Danno is funny. Love the sarcasm.

I am better than you mentally, spiritually and physically(88-2-68ko's as an amateur, will be a pro in a couple of months), if you are bragging about boxing that happened in ontario, than you should shut the fuck up, I originally come from ontario too, but the boxing their is bush league, just like you, that's why I moved to montreal, the only place in canada for a real fighter to live. you asked a stupid question in the beginning and now are upset because nobody takes you side, put your tail between your legs and take the loss box, or you could come to champs gym, hard knocks or underdog gym, I rotate between the 3, all you have to do is ask for thesoulpurpose and then you would see what a real fighter is all about, you bush league box.

now that I think about it troy ross is about 36 or 37 now, you said that you sparred with him when you were 13, so either you are talking about something that happend a very long time ago when he was around that age too, or I call your bluff as I know troy's people and not even ontario's bush league boxing would put a 13 year old in with someone like troy( who is a C class fighter) unless he was just training\teaching you, so either your living in the past and your best moment was sparring with a C class fighter or you are straight up lying,

Hollywoodturf: Besides many obvious reasons, turning your back and being exposed to being punched in the back of the head would be a top concern if this were to be taken seriously. That's why rabbit punches are considered so serious as they can easily cause cervical damage and lead to serious injury or death. One of boxing's worst tragedy's involved one of boxing's most electric fighters and on his way to being considered among the top of all-time greats was Gerald McClellan. Nigel Benn constantly hit McClellan with rabbit punches and headbutts, McClellan was hospitalized after the fight. When McClellan was discharged to the care of his family, he was completely blind, 80% deaf and could no longer walk unassisted. His condition has improved slightly in the sixteen years since tragedy befell him, but he is still a pale shadow of the man he once was.

BTW- Watch Kickboxing if you want spinning backfists. Also, if you were to add it to boxing, before someone turns around to throw it they'll be punched in the back of neck or head and probably injured permanently.

Punching in the balls was never legal in MMA and completely changing boxing to allow spinning back fists is retarded
Incorrect. There was an early UFC fight where the guy did nothing BUT punch in the balls. I believe this might have been somewhere post Royce, pre weight classes. UFC 5-8?

I respect gerald as much as any fighter to ever walk between the ropes, not sure if you read the story, but going into the last couple of rounds, he knew something was wrong, he was even talking to his dead dog, who had died a few days before the fight, he mentioned that if something did not change than he would be seeing him sooner rather than later, the pain that he was feeling expecially going into the last round must of been out of this world, but he still answered the bell, what a fucking warrior, his life was on the line and he knew it yet refused to quit, win or die trying, alot of fighters say that, he meant it.

Most fighters that are realistic with average intelligence or just general common sense realize the dangers of boxing short term and more so long term. That's why when people (and some states banned MMA) stated MMA was brutal and more dangerous don't understand the scientifics of body damage. Yes they are both dangerous and MMA is more likely to cause immediate injuries, but the illusion after a twelve round bout and a boxer didn't suffer any facial damage or at any point seemed hurt, is the hidden danger of boxing. Going through twelve rounds of constant punches causes the brain constant jarring and significant damage. The brain damage to boxers is so apparent you wonder how the sport is still legal (that's simple: history, the public demand, politics and money). Take a look at interviews of long term boxers and you can see the slow slurred speech among other symptoms. I watched an interview of Meldrick Taylor and how he was struggling because only a few states still allowed him a license. The poor guy couldn't even speak and any legislative body that allows him or anyone in similar condition should be considered a crime of torturing a handicapped person.
