History
What a way to go out. As much as I would like to see him repeat such a historic brilliant upset performance I can't imagine a better way to go into the sunset then this. For some reason I still think he fights Roy Jones after Jones loses to Calzaghe.

Yep, that was some kind of historic performance. Unreal stuff, I am still in shock and Bernard is some kind old school fighter. He drank out of the fountain of youth tonight and took Pavlik back to preschool.

Im floored as well. You're right he probably will fight jones next, especially after he just called him out. But at least he gave us one great historic performance.
pavlik in the mean time needs to stick at 160 and not fight anymore legends.

Pavlik holds basically two wins over Taylor - a great but not a legend. Miranda? Good win AT THE TIME.
He was more smoke n mirrors than substance. Well, not totally. He will rule the miiddleweights until he gets a crack at another big fight at a catch weight. He is lacking mechanics, and is a 1-2 basic fighter. He'll have trouble against anyone with speed and good defense.

I have to be really honest here for a minute... this wasn't "historic"...

Wait how isn't a 43 year old fighter taking down an undefeated 26 year old not historic? Do I agree he exposed pavlik a bit? yes. However don't take away from the clinic he just put on. For him to be able to do that at his age against a fighter in his prime is remarkable and historic imo.

I would be the last one to take anything away from Hopkins, the guy just made me a week's pay in under an hour. Lots of guys stay undefeated until they face a true test against an elite fighter on a big stage.
It is his defining fight - and that is saying something for Hopkins and his resume. However, I just don't see it being the HUGE upset that everyone is talking about. Other than age, Hopkins held every major advantage in this fight - including punching power at this weight.

I agree with that. As I said in another thread I still think kelly at 160 is a force and he can still be very good at that weight. 170 he was defintely not the same and it didn't help hopkins came to fight.
