Here we go witth the Mexicans talking rematch. Here's the facts

ONe judge had it a shutout till the 12th.  Rest had it 10-1.  

Dont be a hater its just like Chavez/Taylor 2....a freakin PPV bonanza...This fight has to be made, I dont think Maravilla finishes the fight with another minute on the clock..And everyone saw that, plus the two cuts....

 

The blood is in the water, and now Julio will be hunting for the knockout from the first bell...Martinez even saluted Julio and all the Mexicans after the fight....They will both be in the best shape of their lives next time around...Should be a good one.

You were less than an extra 30 seconds away from that being the last boxing match you would ever see...We definetly believe you would have followed thru on what you said cuz ur all class...Just like you claim to win the majority of your picks....Trick Please.

There will be a rematch, Martinez probably just made his career high payday. He won't pass up on a huge payday to fight him again. Martinez has to heal up first, Chavez should just move up and fight Pavlik (it would have way more action), there is a lot better fights at 168 anyway, just stay away from Ward at all cost. 

I understand the politics of boxing and promotion and all the other bullshit that goes with the sport, however, it seems unjust that Martinez made only $ 1.4 million (before Pay-Per-View Sales %) to Chavez's guaranteed $ 3 million.

I guess you chalk it up to Arum > DiBella.  It was Mexican Indepencence Day weekend and Bob knew going in that 80% of the gate was going to be Mexican. Not to mention, their fan base in Vegas. But is Jr. really that much more marketable than Sergio? I respect Martinez even more now, knowing that he took the fight just to shut Chavez up.

IMO, Bob will be a stumbling block if there is to be a rematch (He's too greedy)....no way Martinez settles for less (nor should he) the next go around.

A rematch will not be any better result from Chavez.  He did not "start slow."  Martinez was too fast and skilled for him and it was not until the 38-year old, who threw almost 1000 punches, got tired that he got caught.  Even then Chavez could not finish him.

A rematch just means Martinez will throw less punches and conserve his energy more.  He will still win a lopsided decision.

One thing I don't think anybody is mentioning is the fact that JR hardly ever let his hands go. He was in position so many times to punch and just didn't do it. Granted, Martinez was decking him with shots all night therefore he was probably gun shy. That said, I don't recall JR ever being in deep danger. If the kid would throw punches and take more chances in a second fight, I'd support it.

He can't throw punches because Martinez won't let him set his feet. JR, footwork & defense are suspect... to put it kindly.
