Somebody talk me down from putting a ton on Johnson.  Johnson -160.  I don't care if he was 51 years old let alone 41.

I've bet on and against Johnson many times and never got a bad result so naturally I've been thinking about this fight as well.

Green was Johnson's sparring partner for Jones. Green said Johnson got the best of him during those sessions. Which is a double edged sword. Could work for or against Johnson. I'm sure Jones got the best of Duvalle, but being familiar with Roy's tricks got him a knockdown. Didn't win the fight, but you see where I'm going.

The x-factor here is the weight. Johnson is old and shedding weight has a much greater effect on the body which is obviously tied to performance. Glen doesn't really tote much fat around so we're talking muscle loss to some degree.

Not sure if this is accurate, but is Johnson guaranteed two fights in the tournament? If so, its something to think about.

Its hard to see Green winning, but fighters get old and sometimes so over night. Need to stew on this one...

You are right, Johnson making 168 is a major problem as he has not done so since the year 2000.  He may be very weak.

making the weight is a huge issue here, I actually think that johnson will come in heavy around 170 or 71, he has to pay 30,000 for every pound that he is over and if he is smart that's what he should do, fork over 60,000 to green and come in at 170, I would bet that's what will happen, their is now way he makes 168 and stays strong, pay the money, come in stronger and win the fight, sounds better than killing yourself and losing to a jackass like green. losing to a punk like green would haunt a warrior like johnson forever, not betting on this one though

Mcnulty the winner is guaranteed two fights, at first they said one would need a KO to advance. Now it's the WINNER advances (dec/dq/ko).

I agree with Mack on this one (for myself). Glen Johnson was gassed by the 4th round against Cloud, he did okay but he looked a shell of himself and at this age the weight cut I believe is way too much especially since he body looked gaunt his last fight.

If this was Pre-Dawson this would be easy for me Johnson easy win... but this is NOT the same Glen Johnson that we've seen.

Seriously look at the Cloud fight tape Glen fought on raw heart after round 4.

Allan Green is not an elite fighter he has lost in every big match up he has been tossed into. Against a puncher Miranda he blamed his colon ( okay then he is less than stellar against a tomato can on showtime).

He then fights Ward who destroys him, but this is Glen Johnson who cannot apply 12 rounds of pressure anymore.. he needs to the Bernard Hopkins type system (take a breather in between).

The real Glen Johnson would attack for 3 minutes of ALL 12 rounds but not sure if he has that left in him, going down to 168 is a dangerous move at his age.

I understand why he did it, he's guaranteed one fight, and I guess he feels if he cannot beat Allan Green he should retire, if he does beat him he's guaranteed two pay checks and then can finally retire.

Glen owes nothing to boxing, he has given his all (maybe too much).

I will root for Glen Johnson to win, but really hoping he stays healthy until he retires he's taken a ton of hits.

Allan Green will get KO'd  in the next round anyways.. but this one I don't know Youth may prevail.

Remember Johnson is not just long in the tooth, the tooth is loose and and can fall out at any time.

Good luck to everyone regardless of who you pick!

    GO Johnson!

    GO Johnson!

For me it comes down to Johnson always being a slow plodder who is now even slower and who's pressure is no longer of the sufocating type. Of course I'm also considering Johnson being an ancient man who will be damaging himself by having to lose so much weight. The day of the Cloud fight Johnson weighed 191 lbs. That means he probably entered camp at like 210lbs. I just can't see Johnson being in good condition if he has to come down to 168 lbs.

Green looked like SHIT recently but I know he's better than that. He has a quick jab and very powerful left hook. His footwork is good during the early rounds. I'm sure Johnson's pressure and activity will win him some rounds but I like Green by dec. However I'm only betting on Green straight up because he's already has + odds.

Excellent write ups by all - and very enjoyable to read.

I swear some of the posters on this forum are 100x smarter about the fight game than the people in it.

Word has it Glen Johnson made 168 very EASILY.

I need to see the weigh-in, his last fight he looked awful coming in, Johnson was always pretty well built.. but his last fight he looked so gaunt.. but this time they say he made it easily.

I might play the Johnson fight once I see him enter the building for the fight.. since it's the main event it will give plenty of time to see what his body looks like.

Juddah looks like a good play, I like him at 140.

Might Parlay Juddah Lopez and Johnson together for a small price if Johnson's body looks decent.

    Good luck to everyone!

Hate to disagree but on sho box tonight they said Johnson made 168 EASILY.

So at least he won't be paying any $$ to Green he made weight.

If you look at the next round Glen Johnson would be a better match up than Green would for almost any boxer- even at this age he will still put a better EFFORT than Green has/will.

Johnson looks very gaunt in pic.

I'm going to fade Green anyway.  Just not as much as I had planned.

If Glen Johnson isn't weight drained which he looked like he was. Then theres a chance he could lose. He didn't look too healthy at th eweighin and hasn't made this weight in about 10 years. that being said I'm gonna put a little on Johnson by decision

Johnson has too much CLASS to lose to Green. I like him to win a convincing decision.

I just watched the weigh-ins for Cloud and Green side by side. I think he just looks thinner, obviously, but didn't appear drained, but didn't appear vascular either. Try it out with the side-by-side.

Still, not enough for me to raise up on this one. Johnson has been robbed in the past and he wasn't even talking about retiring then. A few years later doesn't help the cause. No play...

IMO if Green wants to fight he will prevail with his youth and Johnson slipping with old age. I like what nutty said about green never doing anything when he stepped up to a bigger fight. If he can't beat an aging Johnson then he can't beat anyone. I look for his best effort. I don't know why he didn't fight vs Ward but he was disinterested and outclassed there.

I do not see how anyone takes Green after watching that debacle vs. Ward, where he didnt even attempt to fight. Everything about Green says not a real pro--from his training camp, to his trainers, to his crew. If anything at least Glen Johnson is a true pro who will prepare himself to give a full effort, not sitting around a shithole in Tulsa getting stroked by his childhood friends.

Green is pure SHIT!  He's got the mentality of a truck driver...not a Fighter. He fought the whole fight just waiting to find a time to Lose.
