Fighter would have to be Manny Pacquiao and it isn't really close. Maybe Margarito is up there for consideration but it was Manny's year

Fight of the year. for me it was Vazquez-Marquez 3 way back in March. Neither guy has fought since. Can u blame them?
Margarito-Cotto was my favorite fight of the year because I like Margarito but I dont know if it was as great as the Vazquez Marquez bout. I would put it a very very close 2nd

Usually I like to come up with a KO of the year, cant think of any big devastating KOs this year. Darchinyan taking apart Mijares for 9 rounds? Probably not.(Just saw this one somehwere online as a nominee) Edison Miranda over David Banks, that was a pretty good one! I guess I would go with that one unless someone has a better one.

Upset of the year. I thought Pavlik losing to Hopkins was pretty big, I had Darchinyan over Mijares but that was considered a big upset also

who do you guys have?

Glad I'm not alone with Manny as Fighter of the Year. I really think Margo blew it, if he'd beaten Clottey this fall it would have been a no-brainer.

I'd toss in Yuri-Seeger and Urango-Vilches for KOTY candidates.

Hopkins beating Pav wasn't an upset at all.
 
You have the fight of the year correct.
 
I hate Manny, but he RUNS AWAY with fighter of the year.
 
Really can't complain about the selections. Pretty cut and dry.

What was the big upset then? Was it Darchinyan? I saw on some sites they said Brian Vera over Andy Lee but honestly when these overhyped guys get beat it isnt an upset

As much as every boxing writer wants to give pac-man fighter of the year, i just cannot do so. He beat David Diaz, moving up in weight, and he was easily the weakest champion at 135. Diaz only got the title cause he was a handpicked interm fighter to face erik morales so, morales could retire a champion. If he fought the baby bull or campbell, i would of giving him way more credit. Pac-man's camp picked diaz for a reason.
 
Delahoya was an econominal win for pac-man but it was like dlh schooling chavez. I give him credit for the marquez fight, but i think marquez won both fights, just my opinion.... If Marquez had beat pac-man (i think he should) and he would be the fighter of the year based off of his preformance.
 
the real fighter of the year.....Antionio Margarito.......Won two titles by ko at 147. If the fight versus Clottey would of came off that would of sealed the deal for the boxing world.  that win over cotto defeats any of Pac-man's wins over the year....

Fight of the year.....Margarito and cotto...I was there live and based of the crowd, the build up, and the actually fight. I could not have asked for more. This was us boxing fans dream fight, not dlh and pacman......
 
Upset of the year....Campbell versus Diaz....Thank god i forgot to place my bet on this fight.....Who would of ever thought an afterthought ,(keep in mind he has 3 losses that are versus at best 3rd tier oppenentss, including Lorenzo) would win versus an younger and powerful diaz....Nobody did.
 
Ko of the year...since everyone is saying Miranda and Banks and i am into more shock value.....(he was suppose to murder banks anyways).....Prescott versus Khan.....Hopefully we get to see more of Prescott in the future...
Prospect of the Year...Gamboa, Ortiz, Sergio Martinez, J.Lopez, and other similar fighters are no longer prospects.....I cannot wait to see this fighter anytime he fights. he may not become a world champion but he manhandled a former world champion fighter who has never been knocked out ever.

Just thought of an upset that may be a decent one for the list Quintana beating Paul Williams in their 1st fight .

Yep. That would be the biggest, as far as elite level talent upset. The year was so long, tough to dig ones up. Like it.

Pac Man and Margarito for Fighters of the Year ..
 
Fight of the Year.. Id say Marquez - Vasquez 3 .. and Cunningham vs Adamek was a sick fight too .. Really Enjoyed Cotto vs Margy also .. Hope for some serious fights in early 09 !!!

Amir Khan getting KO'd was a bit of a shocker, although he was a bit over-hyped it seems. 
 
I loved JMM/Pacquiao III, and it should get an honorable mention for FOTY, although the Marquez/Vazquez tilt deserves top honors. 
 
Pacquiao is the obvious choice, but how about Darchinyan for Fighter of the Year?  He smoked Kirilov who was a titlist, and then he destroyed Mijares who was a top ten p4p fighter at the time.  The draw against Gorres is a slight blemish, but it was on the road and it was a bit dubious.
