I lived in (Metro) Detroit around the time he started getting in trouble. There was a definite racial divide on people's opinions on this matter.

I would be willing to bet him getting re-elected if he could run again.
Black people loved him, white people loved to make fun of him. In fact, one of my buddies had the Scarface poster and taped Kwame's face over Pacino's. It looked fitting.

Can't imagine why Detroit continues to fall apart.

Ktrain, I currently live in the metro Detroit area myself.  I totally disagree with what you are saying on him getting re-elected.

If you watched the news today, the blacks were estatic that Kwame was convicted.  They were hurling insults at him left and right, complaining about how much money he cost the city and that they were glad he is "just another black man in jail."

Things have changed within the black community then. I have lived in California for the last 5 years now so I admit I am out of touch with Detroit news a bit. This is what I remember:

And she wasn't alone in her support. That's what I remember at least.

Where in Detroit do you live? I grew up just north of 8 Mile and just west of Woodward (Ferndale). I always like talking Detroit with other people.

I remember all that as well, but I think most of the citizens have changed their views over the past few years.  They blame Kwame for all their troubles and realize he did nothing but set the city back.

I live between 9 and 10 mile road in St. Clair Shores.

Wow, small world. My Dad lived off of 9 and Jefferson for a while.

I was reading up on this yesterday and it does seem like the tide has turned on Kwame. It's really good to see that Detroiters have finally realized what a scum bag this guy is.

Agree. Where did he live at? Before I bought my place I rented a unit at 9 and Jefferson in Shore Club.

Is Shore Club the place with a bunch of apartments and condos and then at the end of the street there is a large tower(either apartments or condos)?

My dad had a house on east of Jefferson and a little bit north of Nine Mile I believe. It's been a while since he lived there but he was east suburbs his whole time in Detroit, Mt Clemens, Clinton Twp, SCS.

Been there, swam in the pool, rode my bike up and down as a kid. Crazy the memories that brings back. That had to have been like 1990 when my dad lived there.

What's the deal with the Emergency Manager situation for Detroit? Are the going to bring someone in? I hope so.
