Look how misleading this is though.

The study, funded by the National Cancer Institute of the National Institute of Health, traces the roots of the Tea Party's anti-tax movement back to the early 1980s when tobacco companies began to invest in third party groups to fight excise taxes on cigarettes, as well as health studies finding a link between cancer and secondhand cigarette smoke.

The tea party had nothing to do with the cancer/second hand smoke stuff. Why would they add that?

As I understand it, they were fighting "sin taxes".

Sounds pretty legit.

And the same people who did this were originators of the tea party.

Not very nefarious.

But they did a good job trying.

Meh...Occupy Wallstreet was equally stupid and misguided but was also vilified by the media whereas Tea PartyTM had its Fox News and conservative media propaganda arms and, thankfully, still failed. Conservatives tout freedom but they can&#x27;t seem to differentiate it from &#xD;&#xA;fascism.  Their idea of freedom is what the 1% will allow the 99% to &#xD;&#xA;have through their manipulation and control of the government.  In &#xD;&#xA;essence, you&#x27;re free to be their slaves and any insubordination won&#x27;t do&#xD;&#xA; such as being anti-war.

[/Quote]My definition of freedom is the right for individuals to do what they please if it is not against the law. With that freedom comes individual responsibility. That applies to everyone. 100%. Not just 1%. Not just 99%. The more the govt is involved in our lives (our bedrooms, our bodies, our kitchens, and our wallets) the less freedom we have.The comment in bold must mean you agree with me.

Look how misleading this is though. Gee, ya think?Notice how with the left it is never 2&#x2B;2=4. Rather it is, X got funding from Y, who had a person who once worked for Z and Z&#x27;s sister had a cousin who&#x27;s brother worked for X.Therefore X=Y!!!!Note that there isn&#x27;t a single bit of information presented that the Tea Party wants to limit regulation of tobacco. How did they fail?  They pulled off the biggest midterm change of power in congressional history in 2010 and held their majority in 2012 by only losing what was it, like 7 or 8 seats? in a cycle where a Democrat president won re-election easily...and in the meantime have essentially blocked most of Obama&#x27;s agenda since 2010...And they failed? huh?
