Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said Sunday that she plans to introduce an assault weapons ban bill on the first day of the new Congress.

"I'm going to introduce in the Senate, and the same bill will be introduced in the House -- a bill to ban assault weapons..

Who needs these military-style assault weapons? Who needs an ammunition feeding device capable of holding 100 rounds?" Feinstein wrote on her campaign website. "These weapons are not for hunting deer -- they’re for hunting people."

"It will ban the sale, the transfer, the importation and the possession, not retroactively, but prospectively," and ban the sale of clips of more than ten bullets, Feinstein said. "The purpose of this bill is to get... weapons of war off the streets

Slim may be upset that the "captive NFL audience" at stadiums and at home in front of the TV had to endure a moment of silence today before every game for the Connecticut victims. Damnit, Bob Costas!

No, it was the 15 min interuption NBC gave to Obama for the Sunday night Connecticut vigil ..when it was on every other station ...and no I wasn't a capvive audience this time ..I turned on the radio ..

As opposed to those who ignore every tragedy? Of course, the pro-gun lobby has never been known to "pounce" on an issue, or candidate they opposed. And they never plan legislation years ahead and wait until the right moment to "push" it. Yes, the pro-gun lobby is the only innocent and lilly white political muscle in America.

Costas sucker punched millions of NFL football fans with a left-wing sermon about gun control...while they were waiting for the 2nd half kick-off .. 

You are lacking in situational awareness then. Better be careful in the movie theater or at the mall. Let's say you're being sucke punched is the price you pay for the 1st Amendment--similar to those who are asked to bear the cost of the 2nd amendment.

Darkhorse--According to the argument being advanced here and in several other threads, shooting victims are allowed to be unexpectedly and fatally inconvenienced as sacrificial lambs in schools, malls and other public places for our Second Amendment "freedoms." It's the price we pay. Get used to it. However, inconveniencing some football fans for 90-seconds of lame commentary is an intolerable price to pay for the 1st Amendment. 

The problem is gun-free zones ....Gun-free zones are magnets for massacres....the Clackamas Town Center mall shootings, the movie theater in Aurora, Colorado,the Virginia Tech school shooting , the Connecticut elementary school massacre...and the unarmed soldiers caught in a deadly shooting rampage at Fort Hood.

.. cowardly ,perverted psychopaths shooting unarmed people in a gun-free zone..

Arm the teachers.. shut down the TSA at airports ( they never catch terrorist ) place the Homeland Security in schools and gun-free zones.. all they are doing is harrassing wheelchair-bound passangers and groping Americans anyway ...

Arming the teachers is the solution? What's next? They need to arm the mall employees, theater employees, postal workers....? How about the other sectors in society?

Those are called "lunatics" for a reason and you really think they give a second thought if the teacher is armed?
