In Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, Colorado, and Nevada — tossup states where direct election-year comparisons could be drawn — the numbers are striking. Democratic rolls increased by only 39,580, less than one-tenth the amount at the comparable point in the 2008 election.

At the same time, GOP registration has jumped by 145,085, or more than double for the same time four years ago. Independent registration has shown an even stronger surge, to 229,500, almost three times the number at this point in 2008.

Interesting about the Independents. It sure seems they are motivated to vote in this election.

This week, Third Way, a centrist Democratic think tank, released a study of eight battleground states that illustrated the rise in independent voters since the 2008 election. The report, titled “ The I’s Have it,” found that based on recent data, Democratic registration has declined by more than 800,000, or 5.2 percent; Republican enrollments were down about 80,000, or 0.7 percent; and independents were up 486,677, or 6.4 percent, in those states.

Remember that the next time you see a Presidential poll with 38% D and 30% R in the samples in the cross-tabs.

Beyond these groups that will put Obama over the top...women, elderly, latinos...I predict Obama will decisively whip mittens in the debates.

His platitudes & little pat answers along with that patronizing, condescending look on his face worked well enough with his repub opponents, but won't with Obama. He'll get sliced & diced particularly in foreign affairs, taxes & the medicare fabrications they've been putting out.

Now the Obama team is only asking for only 5 total yrs in tax returns from Mitt, but he still won't do it. Why not? Is it just from the conflict & discrediting that showing that he's used every possible loophole & avoidance possible which he gives lip service to wanting to cut out or has it been worse - criminal evasion rather than legal avoidance?

Cashin, romney is a huge bag of corporate garbage. The guy goes around saying how much he loves the country, but he uses offshore accounts to get out of paying his fair share to the country he says he loves. There are no bigger hypocrites then guys like him
