Gonna roll with the Twins in this matchup, hoping that Liriano can recapture the magic that he had in '06. I'll give him a pass on his first start as he was battling the elements of 39 degrees with a 29 degree wind chill factor involved. This game will be inside the Baggie Dome, and much more warmer, which will help his stuff. the Indians blew out Detroit last night (YAY!) so it is a must for me to go against them in this situation, and take the Twinvikings plus the points.

Style: Liriano won't recapture that form for a while. Remember this is his SECOND game getting back into the mix. Parlay that with the fact that he's a young pitcher anyways-I'd look to see the Twinkies bullpen rather early in this one again. And we all know what that means!! Twins might have the worst bullpen (less Nathan) in the division. I would be scared taking the Twins in this situation, just my two cents.
I would also be scared to take the Indians as well-as Lee has thrown well-but the Indians bullpen is just as bad-they could throw away a decent game thrown by the southpaw.....
SO what am I going to do? Indians coming off a big offensive explosion-coupled with two "decent" starters and two awful bullpens:
OVER 8.5

Liriano pitched in spring ball too, and got 5 starts, and was 2-2 with a 4.02 era. So that would be 6 total including the regular season start. I say that he's ready, and we'll just see about that later on today. N doubt that the warm wetaher inside the dome will help with his velocity. And besides, the Indians haven't seen him a quite a while, so it's almost as if they are facing an unfamiliar pitcher, ad by the time they get used to what he is doing we'll be in the 6th or 7th inning. The nod goes to the Minnesota bullpen, with Joe Nathan closing things out. He has not allowed a run yet this year!

Liriano is still a mystery. Has great stuff, but has yet to put it all together (this year). Had control problems in spring ball which carried over to his minor and big league starts (cold weather starts). GL twins backers.

Seems Like there is a lot of diff opinions on this game with two very debatable pitchers going..Liriano no doubt has the capability to shut down lineups but Tommy John is no joke, usually 20-26 months before a pitcher feels like he's got it again (i've had it myself), and Lee had troubles at times last year, he has gotten off to a good start but could be facing the 2-0 curse it seems like mediocre pitchers have faced this year going into there third start ( Tim Hudson, Dice K, Peavy, who got hit hard in his 3rd outing)...toss up in this game, Liriano could give those Cleveland lefties some trouble, and if Lee can get Maur and Mornoueo out, goodnight twinkies

Not saying Hudson and those guys are medicore by far, there are Cy Young caliber pitchers but just giving a few examples of guys who got off to tremendous 2-0 starts then were shaky in 3rd outings not on full rest..

Lee (2-0, 0.61) appears to be a good one right now. His 2007 season included a stint on the disabled list, a trip to the minor leagues and a 6.29 ERA, but this year, he looks more like the pitcher who went 18-5 with a 3.79 ERA in 2005.
He's allowed just one run in 14 2-3 innings, and was especially impressive in his most recent start, surrendering only one run and two hits and striking out eight in eight innings in a 7-1 win on Sunday against Oakland.
How could you go against the indians.

Listen guys, I'm from Minny and watch just about every game. Liriano is not looking good at all! I can't bet for, or againt my favorite team, but I can give my two cents. Cleveland always does well here, in fact Casey Blake owns us ever since we got rid of him.
Cleveland -1.5, go for the money.

Liriano, who said he had trouble establishing his fastball, allowed the Royals four runs on six hits and five walks in 4 2-3 innings. His mound opponent, Kansas City's Brian Bannister, said Liriano didn't rely on his signature slider, which has contributed to his elbow problems.

Oh phooey on Cleveland backers! Naw, I can take a loss well. I thought that Liriano would pitch better in the microwave, but it was not to be. I'll get em back tomorrow with the Twinkies!
