The return of "Manny" is not a good thing you guys! He will fuck up the chemistry for awhile. Jaun Pierre was a good catylist and the style of ball they were playing was good! If Manny has been juicing the whole time he has been in the majors he will go into the same funk that all the others have. Did you see him in the minors? He could not even hit that pitching. I see a record of double play balls coming out of him in the future. Now with that out of the way, the Dodgers will still beat the Pads.

The Dodgers 3rd base said coach said they know what they have in Juan Pierre and are planning on giving him plenty of at bats and keeping him involved in games as much as possible, but the bottom line is they went 21-8 with Manny in the line-up and 29-21 without him because they averaged about one less run a game in his absence.
It'll be interesting to see if you're right about him slumping for a while, but I think his presence in the dug out helps teams chemistry as evidenced by their emotional turnaround last year when he took Jeff Kent's place as the team leader. Obviously, his bat had a hell of a lot to do with it, but it's no secret that Kent was a huge stick in the mud and Manny's a lot more fun to be around. They all said baseball got fun again when Manny showed up.

To heck w/ it. This is a rivalry game. If San Diego is going to win at all, it will be this first tilt.
Manny will be an automatic out tonight. Something Jeff Kent never was, and 'go fuck yourself' by-the-way. The rest of the Dodgers will probably hit pop fly after pop fly, as Petco Park all but silences another line-up of mediocre hitters.
To those ends, Gaudin has Kuroda outclassed.

1 word: chemistry it always takes at least 1-2 games for the team to adjust and hell Manny could come back and go 4-4 with 2 homers, as well as he could go 0-4 with 2 k's. Classic "thats why they call it gambling" game here tonight and just 1 I wanna go against grain with win or lose -- SD +130 & UNDER 7

Rivalry for who? The Padres maybe, at least they got that going for them. The Dodgers' rival is the hated ones, even Vin Scully has to spit every time he mentions their name.
I do see a rusty Manny, a Dodger team that has not hit well of late and a home team that's going to be a little upset at all the blue in the stands playing with a bit of a chip on their shoulders.
Lot of value in playing the Friars tonight, but will most likely stick to the under.
Oh, and Jeff Kent was a redneck, clubhouse cancer with a misguided "professional" approach that alienated players and he could never come up with the big hit when it counted (Kinda like Sheffield). I'm sure you could give me a couple of examples, but I could do the same for Andruw Jones. Jeff Kent was an angry old man that was jealous of youth and who was a couple of missed bic strokes away from adding a new and improved square 'stache to go along with his goosestep.
Manny may hit into a few more double plays this year but it seems Jeff Kent was just as proficient at getting doubled up. Fuck me...really, get all nostalgic over Jeff Kent?
Dodgers will be glad to have Manny back.

I agree AngryTiger that he is a good chemistry in the dougout, I was implying the chemistry in the line up, they rallied after he left and that creates a bond and a trust that can be easily messed up when a new dynamic gets added, even a familiar one. Juan Pierre brought a lot of hustle and positive attitude to the line up and I rarely went against them betting because of Juans energy and ability to get on base and put pressure on the opposing pitcher. I used to play proball Tiger and I always prefered to go against the power hitters rather than those little pesky guys who wont go away. they are like knats that swirl around your head and you cant hit them or shew them away. They bother you more than people know if you havent played. The big power hitters will usually help you by chasing sliders and cut fastballs and make easier outs . Little fuckers like Pierre make you throw 20 fucking pitches and then they bleed one through a hole and then you still have to deal with the little shit on the bases!!!! they dont go away until they score or you lose concentration to one of those otherwise easy power hitter outs and hang the slider because you are trying to keep that little shit close and then all of the suddenThat once harmless power hitter puts a charge in one and then you pray that someone in the parking lot doesnt die because of you !!! LOL Take care and GL Spaceman

Chemistry an issue? maybe...Manny in the line up hurt the team...doubt it, but anything is possible.
I'm not a big fan of manny's antics but I know he is a dedicated player and he will put the practise time in. He will be prepared for the game and I believe he will play we'll.

Manny looked like shit tonight. I didn't get down on this game as I wanted the Pads but knew better. LA is spotty and they got all they needed early and shut down.
