I personally thought Troy deserved to be in a bowl rather than Ball St, but oh well. I will say, I was at the Nebraska - Ball St. game when they almost beat Nebraska. Their QB may be one of the better QB's you've never heard of. You know Ball St. is thrilled to go a bowl. Can Rutgers be excited about going to the International Bowl? I'm sure they had higher expectations than that going into the season. Rutgers does have the best pass D in the Big East, so Ball St. may struggle to move the ball.

Ball St. has played two teams better then Rutgers already, at Indiana 38-20 and at Illinios 27-16. Their passing game gave both of them trouble and they stayed in against both, including an Illinios running game that is better then Rutgers. Rutgers did not fair well against above average teams and I don't think should be giving -10 to any bowl eligible team. I'll take the 10 and enjoy the cover. Remember this is a Ball St. team that played well against Nebraska, and almost beat Michigan in the big house last year. IMO

Fab54ever-you make a good point, they played well against Michigan and Nebraska, Nebraska a terrible team, and Michigan a mediocre team - no wonder they stayed with them, also, these are offenses they don't see, ie Appalachian State which beat Michigan. Rutgers plays WV, same style of offense, so they see it. Rutgers will pound the rock, and when Ball State cheats up they will play action them to death. Rutgers has the experience in bowls, and although not in a BCS, playing the only game that day in January, they'll be pumped just like Ball State. Rutgers not a great team either, but I'll give the 10. Rutgers big over Ball State - 1 unit and I have them in 2 parlays

It kind of bothers me that this line has not gone up, seems 72% of public would move some, can you say Boise St. and Cincy....... I hope not because I have Rutgers in one of my $500 4-teamers, move up line move up!

72% of public on Rutgers and line down .5 - this has to be another Cincy and Boise St. - as it gets closer to gametime, I'll be thinking really hard about hedging my Rutgers wager

All of the East Coast money has inflated this line...the fact of the matter is that Rutgers will run the ball all day and BSU will spread the field and put up points...a slow scoring team (rutgers) against a speed attack usually favors the teams that put up points or have the ability to do so quickly...
BSU has great special teams which will force Rutgers to play uphill and there may not be a hotter coach in football, considering BSU's coach was interviewed for the Michigan job and was a top candidate for the Arkansas job as well...It speaks well for his ability to prepare his teams and have them ready to go...Rutgers has more talent and size, but BSU may give them a scare.
Take BSU and the points...if you're looking to tease this game, tease it with LSU and load up, because +16 for BSU and LSU +4 is my favorite bet of the bowl season...
And for the record, I can't stand Ball State, so for me to give them as a pick should serve as testimony to how serious I am on this one.

Ball State+10.5. Ball State has done very well ATS this year. They seem to play well against bigger and better teams. Rutgers won't be able to keep thier offense down. Big question as always against Rutgers is how they will do against the running game, but with a month to prepare they should have a handle on the Scarlet Knights. Ball State ML+400 is very tempting, but I can't do it.

The Cardinals will have their hands full throughout the game with Rutgers' Rice. The running back should conclude his sensational year with another big game.
Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Rutgers 38, Ball State 21
