got a teaser with memphis/so miss, if memphis flops then im hitting so miss straight up...they will rock the owls, where i interviewed for college 20+ yrs ago, got accepted and turned down because they were far geekier than i could stand. they make great professors, docs, lawyers, leaders etc. but its tough to find a 6'5'' 280 lb guy with a 140 IQ to block for you. so miss gets right real quick here.

Yeah, what is the deal...I didn't realize that both QB's were injured and the 34rd string was going to be in...if that is the case I almost want to change my mind and take Rice +21...how good can a third string QB be?
Anyone know who it is or anything about him?

SO MISS don't really pass any way, And RICE has weak secondary, CAN'T CATCH FLETCH will break out, It was the smurf turf that made so miss look bad last week. Rice a spread pass team goes up against a good secondary, watch for some picks people ...

i dont know what to do with this game.i believe this 3rd stringer used to play for mich st so i would like to assume they saw something in him. rice is really bad. ???????

This is a tough one. The Owls are so poor and playing on the road against a team that feels they have something to prove after last week's loss (did they really think they would win on the Smurf Turf? jk).
Everything screams for Southern Miss, even when giving 20 points - EXCEPT THE UNKNOWN 3RD STRING QB!
Small play on Southern Miss and another small play on a 6 point teaser on Southern Miss (-14) and the total (under 62) seems logical.

TAKE RICE 1st Half +11 1/2, Both teams suck,and nobody knows about this 3rd string QB, how can u not take the points and at least Rice scored 14 pts off of Texas

Martevious Young #14 is a redshirt freshman from Alexander City, Alabama. He supposedly was to compete for playing time this year after working hard in the weightroom this summer. He has good speed, and a strong arm, can scramble or drop back in the pocket. That being said there is nothing that i can see about Rice that I like.Too many freshmen receive playing time because the depth is gone.Guys that they planned on redshirting have been thrown into service,and have no experience. Their quarterback has only 4 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Southern Mississippi has only two interceptions. Rice is horrible on defense giving up 331 passing yards per game, and 160 on the ground. Points? Forget about it. Southern Miss is no defensive juggernaut either, Giving up 27.8 points per game and 385 total yards to Rice 491.5.
It stands to reason that if this Martevious guy was to challenge for playing time then that means he is just as good or better than the 2nd string guy,Reaves. We're going into the great beyond on this one,but one player does not make team.Overall,Southern Miss is still better on both sides of the ball with experience and a bad attitude from losing to Boise State in front of everybody. I will make a play for Southern Mississippi because of the better team surrounding the young frosh. I hope those legs are livelyand can pick up a few first downs.
