you are right about one thing though, ohio state has not yet hit their ceiling, and they wont ever hit the heights that they have the potential to because terelle pryor will never live up to his hype and what he was and is supposed to do for ohio state. he did psu a favor by leaving the state of pennsylvania.
Hmmm....I don't totally disagree with his liability as we should have beaten you last yr were it not for his late fumble. He has 2 yrs to mature though and make you eat your words. If (and I say IF) you beat us this yr, and you should with our kicker out, we will return the favor in The Shoe in 2010.
You got a good team, no doubt, but with the odds stacked against us, we will bring our A game.
In 2007, I bought drinks on the house for everyone at a Halloween, sports bar party while OSU drubbed your Nittany Kitty Cats in Happy Valley...after you scored first. I came dressed as a prime time Woody Hayes and took 1st place too boot. (It helped that my bud wore a Clemson jersey and I occasionally gave him the business...heh heh). BTW, I watched that uppercut live (on TV) and the next MO met Woody at a motivational speech on the OSU West Campus. It was standing room only and I was a Frosh at OSU and some of us (even me) couldn't help but feigning throwing an uppercut during his speech. (Not so he could see it as he might have lost his temper..ha).
The infamous Art Schlichter was OSU's star QB at the time. He was in my graduating class of 1982. Sad story he made of his life. Ironically, I post this on Covers..ha...but he was the most undiciplined gambler, by far, I have ever known. He got in so deep, with the horses first, and some of my friends on the track team (with me) fell victim to his money schemes. They just wanted to believe in him...as did I. He was the golden boy who had everything. I drove a piece of shit 1974 Mustang II and he drove nice sports cars every year...in college. Guess I was lucky I had no money to "invest" as he would always say. I saw too many call home asking parents for money after losing one of his sure bets. Those were the early yrs when his bets were under 10K-20K though I believe. (Anyone who doesn't know..he lost his whole ~200K signing bonus with the newly formed Indy Colts in the first MO or so). He was a great football talent...no shit...he "could have been a contender" as Brando said. Even in the Canadian league he won titles. Although charismatic, he was the worst business man I've ever encountered. I don't say this to bash him, just to share with others who might benefit. It's all public knowlege on Wikipedia. I could add more damaging info to his bio regarding the friends he bilked, but have no desire to hurt the guy. I didn't have a dime to gamble back then or it could have been me. Around 2002, when most of our class, (except me born Jan '61) had turned 42, one of my best friends forgave him for bilking him out of I don't know how much over the yrs...in excess on 100K I'm quite sure. Art was serving time and recently lost his father to suicide, so I guess he thought he would be the better man and bury the hatchet...maybe to relieve his own mind as well. He knew he would never see it and wanted to put it behind him. We both understood, Art was just sick, but he lied and hurt so many...much like a drug addict. I never knew him to do drugs of any kind and he wasn't a drinker like the rest of us were... only on weekends. He was just the degenerate gambler x10.
Art just recently appeared in ads (with his mother) to vote down issue 3...casinos for Ohio. It passed by 53-55% anyway in most areas this 4th time on the ballot (just yesterday). I'm glad...as it was a matter of time anyway. When I was in Cincinnati we all had to cross into Indiana or on the Ohio river. That area now has the best roads and infrastructure because of it! Incidentally my girlfriend at the time hit 5000 one night on the 5-10 dollar slots, but it was so early, she lost well over half before we decided to leave. That was a good lesson I never forgot...play again after pocketing half your winnings and leave while your still up! We talked about it over a few 5 star dinners though. I left when the $ ran out....kidding.
Sorry to bore some of you but there are many college kids here and 1st hand experience is the best teacher. Take heed to manage your money well here in the last half of the football season before the holidays. It's best not to chase (too high anyway) in the heat of the moment. We've all been there...all have wanted to at one point or another when we see that "ripe fruit on the vine". Always read these posts and everything else you can first before laying any size chase bet. Not everyone, but most will help you here. Someone always knows something you don't. I've been helped as well (sometimes just to hold off for a better line) so I swear by this site!
