The game is in Atlanta not Bryant-Denny Stadium, although it will look like a Bama home game. Congrats to all those who jumped on Bama at - 5 cause Va Tech is done in this game without Evans.

I just heard the news that Va Tech Star Running Back Evans blew out his ACL in practice.  With that being the case...and Alabama having a great run defense, I think it is going to change the game to the passing arm of Taylor for Va Tech.  I think Bama wins by 7+ with the news of the Va Tech running back gone for the season...

Bama has a lot to prove. Was they a fluke last year ? We will find out soon if Bama football program has TRULY risen to the top.

How you go 12-0 in the reg. season and accomplish nothing ? No SEC champs or National Champs.

I say Roll Tide Roll.  I think they should win this by double digits, but watch out for the Williams kid for VT.  I would not be surprised if he breaks a long one for a touchdown.  He is tough.

I've heard the injuries have hit Va Tech...their backup running back is now injured as stated above by bigeiii...I've also heard that some of the wide receivers have been getting banged up as well. 
 
-7 is still a lot to give up to Va Tech, but with the injuries going on with them...I would have to lay the points and go with Bama.  I have been reading and hearing that Bama has been looking good.  These #1 recruiting classes are starting to pay off it appears...if we can stay healthy it could be a really good season ahead!

Was leaning VT but will have to evaluate the injuries closer.  I still like the under because Bama's offense will have trouble moving the ball against the VT defense.  Neither offense has a lot to offer, but both defenses are standout.  It is a lot of points for what should be a close game.  Special Teams will be the deciding factor unless VT really cannot control any time with the ball.  Right now, VT and the points, and under (maybe a tease).

Who is going to be the starting RB for VT?  Is it the Williams kid.  I know he has a bad ankle.  And the other RB Wilson has a sprained shoulder.  I hear they might throw this Gregory kid in the mix. 

I have been reading up on VT.  Sounds like Taylor has looked solid so far.  And the defense despite starting two new LB's is looking good.  Receiving corps is young but they all played last year.  I guess if one of the RB's for VT can step up they can make some noise in this game.

Interesting Flu reports leaking out of 'Bama. Ditto FishGate 2009 and a couple of dinged and dented starters.

I'm not touching this (again) until this solidifies a bit more by late next week.

(I'm tempted to bite my lip, tape these typing fingers together, and just sit and wait for more cushion... if the betting public reacts this week anything like you guys.)
 
Good grief... when Hokie stud RS Soph RB Darren Evans suffered his ACL injury... those who were not already on the Tide bandwagon, began shifting in waves... and BigEiii bailed quicker than any team supporter in NCAA history!
  
Hello?  This is still a Hokie offense led by electrifying Jr QB Tyrod Taylor...13-2 as a starter.  (But, one of those two "losses" came at FSU when he left the game after being injured on the team's 1st offensive play.)
 
Tech may have lost their young workhorse... but, Coach Beamer's RB stable not exactly empty... not by a helluva longshot!
 
1)  RS Fr Ryan Williams.  Graduated HS two years ago rated as the #4 RB in America (#26 overall).
 
2)  Fr David Wilson.  Graduated HS LY rated as the #4 RB in America.  (#1 player in VA).
 
3)  RS So Josh Oglesby.  Elevated to #2 on RB depth chart (behind Evans) when starter Kenny Lewis, Jr was lost LY versus WKU.
 
I know it's Alabama... but, hell... these guys ain't exactly chopped liver, as they say.
 
Even with the loss of Evans, Hokies return 14 starters, 40 lettermen... oh, and Coach Foster's #1 Team Defense in NCAA L5Y!
 
CruzGator called this a "home game" for Alabama.  Bullshit.  A quick check of Saturday night's venue shows a seating capacity of 71,250... Tech sold their initial allotment of 30,000 tickets 3 months ago... and anyone who knows anything about Hokie Nation knows that the Chicago Maroon and Burnt Orange will be rocking the Georgia Dome... as usual.  Look for at least 40,000 Tech supporters... for what it's worth... but it sure ain't know Alabama "home game"... good grief.
 
Not predicting a side right now... but if the Kentucky Wildcats can fall short by only 3 points LY (as a 15-pt dog) in what actually was a Tide home game... I like the Hokies HUGE in this one. 
 
Gonna bide my time and... just before kickoff... take all the cushion my book offers and start the season in profitable style!

After that Clemson debacle last year, im very weary about this one. I thought Clemson could beat Bama last year. Whoops.
It's going to be hard to take this one, Maybe Bama first half.

Good information R & S.  You are dead on about the crowd being rowdy for both sides, and almost equal, so no significant impact.  But the best defense on the field will be Bama's.  VT has a very good defense, but the problem for VT will be the inconsistent offense.  I was leaning to VT and the points because neither offense will generate many points, but my gut is now telling me the Tide will just not lose this game.  With a small line, I have to go with the game winner to cover.  

Beamer has never had much creativity when it comes to offense...just always relied on his defense and solid special teams.  That will not work against this Alabama group so I feel the field position war will be won by the better overall team.  Since there isn't a huge difference maker on either offense, and the defenses are solid, I am betting one unit on Alabama, and 2 units on the under.  There are better games to bet so I suggest smaller size bets on this one, but this will be fun to watch.  Lots of head banging.  GL all.

Just in... ncaa will be determining the eligibility of Julio Jones and I can't remember the other starter... evidently they took a fishing trip with someone and my be declared ineligible... need to find out who the other player is and if they do get suspended... keep an eye out for the information.. could be a huge blow to Bama... might be a huge Under game.  Sharp

They have been declared eligible to play.. imagine that.. they had to pay back the money and it was donated to charity... GL everyone who's on this game... if anything, I would still take the under.  Sharp
