Filly to win Ky. Derby

Eight Belles is my selection for the Ky Derby. With only three starts under his belt Big Brown is going to get a lot of early pressure from Gayego, Recapturetheglory, Cowboy Cal and Bob Black Jack and I believe he will tire. The pace is going to favor a mid late stalking type and 8 belles fits that mold.  My speed figures so she is faster than all of these colts even though her times were achieved versus fillies. This is really a bunch of mediocre colts this year. Larry Jones is an outstanding horseman just remember his work with Hard Spun last year. In exacta boxes  I like 6 Z Fortune, 9 Pyro and 14 Monba with Eight Belles. Good luck.

DUDE that chick horse doesn't have a chance, these horses are handicapped better than any of us can cap them.  These horses are 20-1 for a reason, don't hope for a fluke mistake by Big Brown to put your money on a long shot.  Use your head.

i thought the Oaks winner was very impressive, and one would think that Eight Belles is better. However, both Winning Colors and Genuine Risk prepped against the boys.  Rags to Riches caught a pretty weak field in last year's belmont.   12-1 or whatever she is now is not much of price to buck a bunch of historical trends imo.

well....she was a near lock to win the Oaks and Trainer feels shes good enough to enter this instead.

Shes been less then even money her last three out and has
won them all Big Brown style.

Winning Colors latest filly to win....it does happen.

Now your getting 12 or 14-1 ? Good luck

DUDE, I thought you were an idiot but now you have proven it by coming on here and running your mouth after the fact. Anyone can do that. Step up before the race and run that big yapper. Eight Belles 10.60 to place 6.40 to show and combined with the chalk 141.00 ex and 3445.60 tri. Not bad for a chick horse. Use your head.

Dont think the Belmont was weak buddy. You had the horse of the year and Breeders Cup winner in there, CURLIN in case you forgot. If that is weak I would hate to see a strong field.

Sorry about your filly 
Who knows when the problem started. It may have affected her late
and she still came in second.

She showed a lot of heart and you hate to see  things like this happen.

I am sorry for the horse, the owner and trainer.  I blame them for pushing her into this hard race.  I did not know she had a history of not changing leads, that they had to train her to do so.  Whether that had anything to do with the broken ankles no one will ever know.  I think if she had run in the Oaks she would still have a good career ahead of her.  Since she was going to do this anyway, I would have been much better off if she had done it before she ran second, I had some exactas on 20/16 I would have loved to cash.  R.I.P., good filly, you deserved better.  Good that you tried hard even though it cost me several hundred dollars.

that stupid ass trainer... the horse ran great but i am against any filly running against the boys in any of these grueling , large field races.. rags to riches may have won the belmont but that race destroyed her...


great pick, i had a 1 dollar exacta lol, i prettymuch put everything with big brown but no tris or supers this year.. of course a lot of money across the board

Not a lot of Fillies can run with the Boys but some can. She ran well today and it was sad ending to this Fillies life. 

In Canada I can't remember the proper year 92 or around that time
DANCE SMARTLY won the Canadian Triple Crown here.
Not too often we will see it but it can happen.

I had Denis of Cork to show - and that won nearly double the $ that Brown had to win... and 8 Belles to place won more than Brown to win... I don't give a crap who wins as long as $ is in my pocket.  And a great race by 8 Belles.... a tragic scene watching her lie on the dirt after kickin those horses' butts out on the track.

curlin from a belmot pov was not the same horse he was later.  no way that horse had the proper foundation to run those three races in the span of five weeks.  agreed, he was the best horse in the world last year, but he wasn't 35 days after the derby.
